The best beauty looks of NYFW From the smoky eyes at Tom Ford to the Swarovskis at Siriano

NYFW has officially come to an end. For the FW19 season, American designers have decided to dare with more extravagant and particular make-up and hair, breaking the usual tradition of New York style made of high ponytails and occasionally a red lipstick, this time going for '80s hairstyles and graphic eyeliners. Even though it technically didn't take place in NYC, the Rodarte show kicked off the season, mostly because it turned make-up and hairstyle into real co-stars of the catwalk.

We've gathered here the best beauty looks of NYFW. Which one is your favourite?

Tom Ford

For his show, Tom Ford played it safe, bringing on the catwalk two of his signature staples: low chignons and smoky eyes. All the models’ hair was straightened and slicked back into pretty knots, while on the eyes were applied cream eyeshadows in different hues, for a light and very sophisticated result.

3.1 Phillip Lim

At 3.1 Phillip Lim the real protagonist was the gaze. The skin is natural, almost bare, so that the attention could all be for those thin white, bright and sophisticated lines drawn under the eyebrow. To highlight the eyes two small black lines under the eye. Yin and yang.

Kate Spade

Romy Soleimani, make-up artist of the Kate Spade fashion show, drew inspiration mainly from the '70s, from style icons like Biba and Twiggy. Burgundy steals the show: the color is placed on the inner half of the eyes, then using rose-gold shadows on the outer half of the eyes and along the cheekbones. Wavy hair frames the face, while a rust-colored nuance enriches the lips.

Proenza Schouler

Two details got our attention at Proenza Schouler. First of all, the hair: models walked down the runway with wet-looking hair. Regarding the make-up, the real protagonist was the black eyeliner, which covered the entire lid and spread also under the eye.

Micheal Kors Collection

For the FW19 collection, Micheal Kors paid homage to the '80s, especially to the aesthetic and style of Studio54. The inspiration is reflected in soft and fluffy hairstyles, small curls with a natural finish. The eyeshadows used are colorful and pop with glitter details, in nuances ranging from purple and pink to black and gold.

Chromat

Chromat brought Miami to NYC with neon and colorful swimsuits and equally as fluorescent eye makeup. Models' lids were decorated with either a warm or cool color scheme based on their outfits. The eyeshadows were diffused from the eyelids to the temple, while below the eye the make-up artist painted either a green or orange line.

Carolina Herrera

Make-up at Carolina Herrera was characterised by shocks of bright pink, orange, and blue on the eyelids. For the pink and orange shades make-up artist Romy Soleimani used lipstick, smudging the bullet across the lids the same way you would apply it to your lips. The skin is almost bare, except for a sheer veil of foundation and highlighter. The hairstylist left each model with her natural texture.

Christian Siriano

The key word at Christian Siriano was shining. Small pearls were applied on the faces of the models, while silver chains wove throughout simple low ponytails. Swarovski studs enriched also the nails, juxtaposing to a black manicure.
