Tips, step by step and a mini shopping guide to shape up our face naturally

Guide to the application of a perfect contouring Tips, step by step and a mini shopping guide to shape up our face naturally

When it comes to contouring, it is impossible not to think about Kim Kardashian, the ultimate queen of this advanced make-up technique. Contouring, in fact, has been known in the industry for a very long time but it did not become popular until celebrities (like Kim in fact) started sharing their beauty tips through social media making them famous all over the world. But what is it specifically?

The contouring is a make-up technique that allows you to give volume and three-dimensionality to the face and is able to correct imperfections like double chins or a too pronounced nose, expertly dosing lights and shadows.

We know that. To make the contouring, however, you must be familiar with the make-up (otherwise the result can turn into a marked line of bronzer along the jaw) but with a little practice and our simple tips, you will see that it is much easier than as it may seem at the beginning.

But let's start with the basic rules. The first is to have two different shades of foundation (one lighter and one darker) available in sticks with cold and never orange shades. The second is to arm yourself with a beauty blender and a brush, possibly kabuki, with soft bristles. The third and final fundamental rule is that, in addition to "darkening", it is also important to illuminate, especially if it is a special evening and you want to have a more impactful effect. So go ahead for highlighters of all kinds (the important thing is that they are not pearly).

Let's now pass to the steps to create a perfect and minimal contouring, also suitable for beginners, each accompanied by a mini shopping guide with the must-have products.

STEP 1

After creating your usual moisturizing face base, start applying the darker foundation in stick on the temples (if you have a spacious forehead, it is good to apply it from the hairline to minimize its size) by tracing two strips about 4 cm long each, before on the right temple then on the left. Moving on to the cheekbones, create two lines precisely on the hollow part, the one between the bone and the "dimple" of the cheek. Continue with the application of the darker foundation on the nose going a little tighter at the tip or, if you have a short nose, bringing it on the forehead to add length and, finally, on the chin and jaw always creating small lines on the sides and on the center.

STEP 2

Now take the beauty blender, moisten it and start blending the color of the dark stripes that you have created in the surrounding area, merging it with your base. Tap in small circular motions using the larger, rounded end of the tool. To define details like the sides of the nose instead, you have to flatten it and hold it in your hands to blend the color well.

STEP 4

For an even more impactful effect, therefore ideal more for a special evening than for every day, you can add the highlighter on the parts of the face you want to enhance as well as sculpt (such as on the cheekbones). The important thing is to apply a small amount so as not to overdo it.
