The ultimate guide to the perfect beauty routine for summer
From the supplements to prepare our skin, to sunscreen and after-sun products

In addition to the healthy and golden complexion we can get to every summer, there are many reasons why it is good to sunbathe: it increases serotonin levels, produces vitamin D (which is good for bones, teeth and skin) and reduces stress thanks to the activity of neuro-transmitters that increase the immune system's defenses, regulating biological rhythms. In addition, the sun affects the metabolism and positively affects the quality of sleep.
But, as you all know well, to avoid skin aging and possible sunburn, it is important to expose to sunlight in the right way and follow some useful precautions (which we will reveal shortly!).
First, avoid solar showers. Don't be fooled by those who claim that this tool can give you a healthy and quick tan. According to recent studies, in fact, tanning beds pump huge quantities of UVA and practically no UVB (which stimulates vitamin D) and can increase the risk of skin cancer by 75%.
Do not forget, then, to apply the right sunscreen at least half an hour before exposing yourself to the sun. The ideal is to do it at home, before going out or going to the beach, taking care to carefully spread the product on all parts of the body. To choose the right product, it is better not to rely only on the SPF factor: on the packaging it is necessary to look for the term "broad spectrum". In fact, only sunscreens that pass the FDA's broad spectrum test, providing ideal protection against UVA and UVB rays, can be labeled as such.
Now let's see in detail, step by step, the right products for a perfect daily beauty routine for the moments when we are most exposed to the sun.
STEP 1
Start the day by taking a beta-carotene-based supplement, ideal for preparing the skin for sun exposure. Don't forget to enrich your daily diet in a natural way thanks to carrots, chard, spinach, melon and apricots which naturally contain this ingredient.
STEP 2
Whether you are at the beach or in the city, face sunscreen always need to be applied. You can use sunscreen instead of face moisturizer without any problem, just apply the correct dose and make it at least preceded by a good serum. What's the right quantity to apply? The recommended amount of protection to be applied on the face (neck excluded) is 1.25 ml, or about half a teaspoon. Apply protection all over the skin and also remember those areas such as the ears or the hair line, insisting on those in which we have moles or scars.
STEP 3
Let's move on to sunscreen for the body. Although it may seem too much, sunscreen should also be placed under our clothing, especially when we know that we will be in the sun for many hours. Also in this case, remember to apply it on the most delicate and unusual points such as on the part behind the knees or on the instep so as to avoid unpleasant surprises at the end of the day.
STEP 4
If you also want to protect your hair and make up, choose specific products for the sea which often contain a SPF. However, put sunscreen as a base and make up as little as possible: under the sun it's nice to be natural!
STEP 5
Last but not least. At the end of the day, after a shower, it is important to apply a good after-sun homogeneously on the face and body to alleviate the effects of sun exposure and improve skin conditions.
