The ultimate guide to a perfect haircare routine for summer
Step by step and shopping tips to take care of your hair

Keeping your hair healthy and shiny all summer long? It is difficult, yes, but certainly possible. During summer, in fact, sun, salt, humidity and wind can put a strain on even the strongest hair, especially if long, dyed and dry also in winter.
Pay attention: the sun can cause damage not only to the skin, but also to the hair fiber, as the heat can flake the hair causing the lifting and opening of the cuticles, thus allowing UVA and UVB rays to penetrate the bark and cause dryness. Heat, in general, affects hair proteins, reducing elasticity and causing breaking much more easily. This might seem like an unavoidable process, but this is not, with some care and the right treatments, our hair will have the best summer ever.
First of all, better to avoid more or less invasive treatments, like bleaching, styling or anything else: let your hair dry in the open air by joining #wavyhairdontcare. In this way you will avoid stressing them with the straightener, with the hair dryer, or with the iron. The heat of these tools can in fact weaken the structure of the stem to the point of breaking it. Furthermore, letting the hair dry naturally will reduce the frizz effect caused by the hairdryer and the waves will be much more defined and super natural.
If possible, also avoid dyes just before leaving for the summer holidays as this process requires time to ensure that the hair regains vitality and you would risk that the color fades. Finally, don't forget to always carry a silkscarf or a hat with you, especially at the beach, to cover yourself while sunbathing. This will not only provide additional UV protection, but will also help your scalp retain moisture.
That said, let's now see all the steps to follow and the right products collected in a mini shopping guide.
STEP 1 - Prepare your head
Before leaving for holidays, it is good to prepare your hair as you do for the skin. How? Through supplements and specific products like ampoules or serums that can preserve their health, shine, color and strength. Then add extra doses of legumes to your diet, in particular beans and lentils, which contribute to increasing the length and thickness of the crown. Also excellent are cereals, which contain large quantities of iron and zinc, elements that positively intervene in the oxygenation of the scalp. Finally, dried fruit is a great ally, especially walnuts, whose large quantities of omega-3 favor the brightness and strength of the hair.
STEP 2 - Cleanse gently
Turning now to cleansing, in the summer, you prefer softening and delicate shampoos, possibly with sunscreens. Apply the shampoo on the temples first and massage with your fingertips: the massage must last at least 1 minute. Finally, pass the shampoo on the lengths avoiding to rub the tips. In this way you will allow your hair to rehydrate in depth before being exposed to the sun the next day. And never forget the balm, possibly moisturizing, soothing and illuminating.
STEP 3 - Protect from the sun
To have your hair tidy and protected from the sun, whether you are on the beach or in the city, also use a protective spray according to your type of hair. If you have thin hair, go ahead with light formulations like milk or biphasic solutions; if you have thicker hair instead, an oily texture that penetrates deeper is preferable. Repeat the application several times a day.
STEP 4 - Nourish deeply
Last but not least, at least once a week, finally remember to nourish sun-sensitive hair by applying a restorative mask for damaged hair. Let it act for at least 10 minutes on all lengths, and then rinse.
