From chocolate to blue, from burgundy to black, tips for application and shopping
November 5th, 2020
We already anticipated how dark lipsticks is destined to be one of the make-up trends of this Fall/Winter. After a summer of bright lips and transparent balms with the scent of citrus, watermelon and flowers, it is in fact time to move on to deep, intense and extra dark shades, to enter the mood of the cold season.
Sophisticated and chic, they fit into the beauty case of the next few months, combined with two other big trends of the season, minimal makeup and extra voluminous lashes. The choice of product is very wide, especially if you consider that - unlike what you might think - these shades are good for everyone, just choose them according to your complexion.
The ideal is to have the lips hydrated and well defined, considering that normally dark colors tend to make them look thinner. Furthermore, unlike lighter and less demanding shades, dark lipsticks tend to highlight every slightest error in application, and it is therefore important to know how to use them perfectly.
That's why nss G-Club has collected the step by step to follow and the right products, as well as 15 lipsticks in dark shades, in a mini shopping guide.
START WITH A LIP SCRUB
If lips are chapped, the dark lipstick will appear uneven and uneven. Then start by exfoliating your lips with a light scrub: rub the mixture on your mouth and massage it for a maximum of one minute, then rinse. Important note: do not exfoliate your lips too often or too hard to prevent them from becoming too dry. In particular, if you have sensitive skin, it is best to use the lip scrub maximum once a week.
CHOOSE THE SHADES
Choose a lipstick that balances your skin undertone. The easiest and fastest way to identify it is to observe the color of the veins: if they are blue or purple, we are dealing with a cold undertone, if they are green with a warm undertone, if instead they seem green / blue then it is a question of a neutral undertone, which means it will blend easily with both cool and warm tones.
For lighter complexions, the most suitable shades of dark lipstick are brown, if the undertone is cold; in case of warm undertones, instead, it is better to opt for stronger shades of pink like mauve.
For the medium complexion, burgundy and light purple are ideal for cool undertones. Instead, opt for the shades of bronze, for the metallic nuances of copper, in the presence of a warm undertone.
Finally, darker colors like plum, brown, black, blue, dark red and burgundy work well for dark skin tones. Choose mainly shades of brown tones for warm undertones and darker shades of red and purple for cool undertones.
APPLY WITH A BRUSH
With a product of this kind, the secret lies in precision. Instead of applying it directly from the stick, it is better to help yourself with a lip brush so as to avoid any smudging. To get a natural result, apply it to the center of the lips, then proceed towards the outside, so that it becomes progressively lighter as you get closer to the outer corners.
