The perfect home-made shade for your lips

YSL introduces a device for creating customized lipsticks The perfect home-made shade for your lips

It looks like a normal and elegant Yves Saint Laurent black and gold trousse, but, actually, it is one of the gadgets that will revolutionize the way we conceive DIY beauty. It's called Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Sur Mesure Powered by Perso and was presented by the L'Oréal group during the virtual edition of the Consumer Electronics Show, the largest fair dedicated to technological innovation in electronics. Using artificial intelligence, this small home device will allow us to create many shades of Velvet Cream Matte Finish lipstick at home.

Perso uses a set of 3 three different lipstick color pods, chosen from the YSL palette of red, nude, orange and fuchsia, and mixes them together, based on the composition set via the app, until it creates the shade of lipstick we want. Push the dedicated button and the device will dispense the exact dose to be applied on the lips with the included brush. The applicator is removable and can be carried in your handbag to apply makeup throughout the day.

This innovative lipstick maker is connected to a smartphone app that helps us choose from the various colors available by virtually trying them on. There are three tools on offer: Shade Stylist, an algorithm that recommends the perfect shade with any outfit; Shade Wheel, which suggests the shade for an evening look; Shade Match, which, by capturing a color shot by the camera, turns it into a real shade to match a special outfit.

Currently, YSL Rouge Sur Mesure Powered by Perso is available for $299 (about €245) on pre-order in the U.S. only, but will soon be released worldwide by the end of 2021.
