Kajal pencil: 5 most common mistakes
Which are the most common mistakes and how to avoid them?
March 29th, 2021
Born in the East as a powder pigment used to protect the eyes from the sun, the use of kajal as a make-up was then rediscovered and appreciated precisely for its ability to enhance the eyes by giving great intensity. And if in appearance it may appear similar to the classic eyeliner, it actually hides many differences: first of all it lends itself well to being blended, moreover, it can be applied on the inner rim of the eye as well as on the eyelid. But what are its methods of use and the mistakes to avoid? In fact, being a bit waxy and oily, the kajal texture is not very easy to manage.
1. Not sharpening the pencil after every application
It is true that in this way the product will wear out faster, but not sharpening the kajal pencil before each application means going to apply the makeup with the largest lead and therefore more likely to create messes.
2. Apply the product in the wrong way
The kajal can be applied both on the lower inner rim of the eye and on the eyelid: to apply it under the eye, it is necessary to start from the inside towards the outside, always following the line of the eye; for the eyelids, you start from the inner corner and then continue with a thicker stretch until you reach the outer corner.
3. Not creating the base with primer
It is very important to apply the primer (or a powder eyeshadow) on the eyelids because, on a specially created base, the pencil will write and fix better making it easier to manage (without having to face the day with a mirror in hand for fear that the trick "runs" at any moment).
4. Leave blank areas
Due to the natural creases of the eye and the texture of the pencil, it is very common for small holes to be created on the lash line where the product does not adhere well. And it is at this point that you have to use a brush so as to lightly blend the kajal and make the effect more homogeneous.
5. Not dosing the product correctly
Especially on the lower rhyme, it is better not to overdo it but to go step by step. Start by putting a little product at a time so that you can gradually add it if you want a more intense effect. Otherwise, it will be difficult to get rid of the excess kajal and you will have to do all the work again.
