Lip pencil: 5 most common mistakes
How to avoid them in order to use the product at its best
April 7th, 2021
Who said that to volumize thin lips it is necessary to use to fillers or invasive interventions? The solution is often hidden in the beauty case, in particular in the lip pencil which - if used correctly - allows you to recreate that much desired plumping effect. In fact, after a period in the shade, lip pencils are back today, intriguing even the youngest, in the nostalgic phase of the 90s style. But what are the mistakes not to make for a natural result?
1. Use a too soft lead
It is inevitable that if we choose a lip pencil that is too creamy, we will end up getting smudges. The texture of the pencil must not be too or too soft, nor too hard, but dense at the right point and long-lasting to allow the lead to glide well on the lips and the product not to dry out over the hours.
2. "Overline" your lips
You must never, ever go beyond the millimeter of your lip contour. Especially when using light lipsticks, you have to go just above the natural contour, so as not to create unpleasant and unnatural effects since the lips have a different texture than the skin and the detachment... you'll notice!
3. Not matching the shade with lipstick
If the goal is to enhance the lips, it is better to opt for a pencil of the same color as the lipstick you want to wear. To enlarge the shape, trace the outline slightly above the natural edge following it to make it look as natural as possible.
4. Forget the corners
Would you ever apply lipstick and forget about the corners? The answer is no and it also applies to the pencil. In fact, it is very important to apply it well on the entire lip contour, including corners!
5. Draw only the contour
Rather, if you do not have a lipstick of the same color, it is better to apply the pencil even slightly towards the inside of the lips, creating an ombré effect. This way you will have a nice shading that will make the lips appear larger.
