Jacquemus is rumored to launch a beauty line by 2022
The French brand might be about to bring its eye-catching Mediterranean aesthetic into the beauty industry
October 25th, 2021
Jacquemus needs more than just a turnover of more than 25 million euros, 3.8 million followers on Instagram and fans like Kendall Jenner and Rihanna who go crazy for every creation, from the Chiquito bag to the La Maille Pralù cardigan. The French company is moving closer and closer to a true lifestyle brand, offering not only clothes, accessories and jewelry, but also make-up and cosmetics. According to WWD, in fact, Jacquemus is about to enter the beauty industry and has signed an agreement with Puig, the Spanish fashion and perfume house that, thanks to its effective approach, has already worked with Paco Rabanne, Carolina Herrera, Jean Paul Gaultier, Nina Ricci, Dries Van Noten and other important brands. Although there is no official confirmation from either partner, it seems that the first products (still top secret) should hit stores by 2022.
The Mediterranean aesthetic that has made the world of Simon Porte Jacquemus iconic seems perfectly designed to be brought into beauty. It's easy to imagine the first campaign as a wild beach in the south of France and the naked body of a beautiful model with the marks of her swimsuit left by the sun in evidence. Even for the products, we can imagine perfumes, body creams, tonics and lipsticks based on eco-friendly ingredients of Provencal origin, such as Marseille soap, olive oil, wildflowers, lavender and wheat, already part of the fashion shows and of the brand's concept.
Before focusing on beauty, the designer had already opened a pop-up flower store, created a line of ceramics and experimented with catering with Citron, his Provençal-style café opened inside Galeries Lafayette on Avenue des Champs-Élysées in collaboration with Caviar Kaspia and pastry chef Cedric Grolet. What will be the next move?
