Get magnetic eyes with this reverse cut-crease guide
A new make-up look trend boasting with color
January 21st, 2022
The cut Crease, or 60’s eye makeup that creates a clean cut between the color of the eyelid and that in the fold of the eye, is (undoubtedly) one of the biggest make-up trends ever. A must for many beauty enthusiasts, this sensual and feline makeup has become a distinctive style thanks to several prominent characters, from Twiggy that made it a form of expression, to major make up artists like Ana Takahashi who recently re-proposed it on Instagram in a "reverse" version quickly became a trend on social media.
The iconic magnetic-effect make-up in a revised key, sees the fold of the eyelid cut with precision but - the way Takahashi has reversed the shadows (the chiaroscuro are opposite to the standard) - definitely adds an extra touch to the classic style. After applying the primer, below the line corresponding to the socket he used a dark brown and applied a white eyeshadow on three-quarters of the inner eyelid, shading the brown shade on the outer and remaining part of the eye. He then created a shiny effect with an illuminant on the brown shade over the recess and close to the inside corner and created a white shadow at the height of the eyebrow bone. The chocolate brown eye shadow was applied creating a sensual cat eye effect that caught our attention and that of over 27,000 other people who liked the post.
And so, to follow, the Danish content creator Freja Bermann - inspired by Takahashi - also created her version of reverse cut Crease replacing the white shade with a mint green, definitely more '90s. Or again, the English Shavonte Dill who, like the original, nuanced the brown line on the crease but added a personal touch with a pink Bubblegum shade and the British beauty influencer Chelsea Uchenna who wanted to try a completely different color combination, pink and yellow.
