S.O.S After-Sun: beauty hacks for a long-lasting tan
Achieving a beautiful tan is definitely one of the most sought-after goals of the summer
May 24th, 2022
Golden highlights on body and hair, velvety and pleasantly scented skin thanks to creams and oils, a healthy-looking face: a tan makes the return to the city after a weekend at the beach or lake softer (while waiting for the long-awaited August holidays). But how do you prolong the tan you have gained, in all its splendor? The "long lasting" strategy, according to dermatologists, is played out in three steps.
Number one: exfoliation, with scrubbing, peeling and dry brushing to eliminate the layer of dead cells and give the skin a glow. Number two: nutrition, favoring foods rich in beta-carotene, the precursor of vitamin A, indispensable for the growth and repair of skin tissues, but also fruit and vegetables containing vitamin C, as well as green vegetables rich in selenium (e.g. broccoli, cabbage, Brussels sprouts), antioxidants and anti-aging. Number three: rich moisturization with ad hoc products to compensate for the skin's loss of water, which increases by 25 percent under UV radiation and causes dryness. Remember: the more the skin is moisturized, the less it will exfoliate; this will help maintain the golden complexion you picked up at the beach.
And on the cleansing front? Cleansing creams should be preferred to the usual products because they contain less foaming agents and, in addition, moisturize the skin. Those with beta-carotene and vitamin E are excellent. For removing make-up from the face, on the other hand, micellar water is perfect - effective but gentle on the skin. Milk and tonic are also recommended. Last but not least, it is also ideal to take beta-carotene, Vitamin E, Omega 3 and Omega 6 supplements before a day at the beach, as they stimulate the production of melanin, but are also useful when you return.
