Why you should wash your face with thermal water (and not with tap water)
The solution to say goodbye to redness and inflamed skin
June 22nd, 2022
It's not just the latest trend: washing your face using thermal (or mineral) water instead of tap water would lead to actual improvements in your skin. According to Korean and Japanese research, thermal water penetrates deeper into the skin; this results in deeper cleansing, a brighter, less inflamed complexion, and less enlarged pores. Faucet water, especially in big cities, is increasingly hard: limestone and scale also affect the hydrolipid film, creating redness, dryness and irritation on the skin. One solution could be to purchase a softener that captures impurities, eliminating the problem; however, if it is not possible to install it, those with dry or sensitive skin will have to avoid the use of tap water, especially for the face, resorting to thermal or mineral water as a viable alternative.
Not only sensitive ones, even those with oily skin with acne may find benefits with the use of thermal or mineral water. People who have tried it report that the initial sensation is to have more hydrated skin, only to find that the skin is still oilier than usual. If one has the patience to get through this second phase, however, one begins to see considerable improvements: pimples and blackheads diminish, but without drying out the skin, which in fact appears more hydrated than ever.
Using sparkling water in the beauty routine according to Korean women is also miraculous: its carbon dioxide bubbles help improve oxygenation, unclogging pores and improving circulation. In addition to using it to wash the face, very common is also the habit of filling bowls with sparkling water and soaking the face for 10 to 20 seconds (depending on apnea resistance). Depending on the needs, sparkling water can be added, for example, natural mineral water (if dry skin), chamomile (for the most sensitive) or cucumber (decongestant). Finally, the sparkling water can be used as a toner by wiping it over your face with a cotton pad.
Unless your tap water is already pure, then, incorporating thermal or mineral water into your beauty routine will only benefit you. To wash your face, use it by decanting it into a spray bottle, at room temperature.
