What is Gorpcore beauty?

It all started in 2017 when an article in The Cut coined the term Gorpcore to define the rise of a minimalist, utilitarian and functional movement aesthetic of bulky down jackets, fleece, technical waistcoats, cargo trousers, hiking boots and sneakers. The new word, inspired by the colloquial way in which a snack containing muesli, dried fruit, and nuts and perfect to be consumed while hiking is commonly called, evoked imagery of footsteps in the snow, pure air, contact with uncontaminated nature, outdoors activities, mountain climbing, hiking and coffee heated on a camp cooker.
