What are the injectable moisturizers that are trending on TikTok
Will this be the next skincare obsession?
September 5th, 2022
With more than 12 million views, the hastag #Profhilo is blowing up on TikTok, suggesting that this will be one of the new treatments dominating skincare in the coming months. Also commonly called injectable moisturizer, Profhilo is a hybrid of high molecular weight pure hyaluronic acid and low molecular weight pure hyaluronic acid that is injected with a needle bypassing the dermis. This allows for a slow release into the top layer of skin and then into subsequent layers that restores firmness, tone, and elasticity while stimulating elastin and collagen production to levels that cannot be achieved through the application of skincare products such as creams and serums.

@fallonmarie Getting Profhilo
How does a treatment work? Injections of 100 percent pure hyanuronic acid are given at five bioaesthetic point spots (BAPS) on either side of the face, where drops of paralyzing cream were first applied to keep the needle from being felt. Almost immediately the areas where Profhilo was injected swell slightly as after a mosquito or bee sting, but the effect begins to clam up after about 15 minutes, while those around the chin and temples take about 14 hours to deflate, depending on the case. At least two treatments four weeks apart are recommended.

The results, at least watching the videos on TikTok and the pictures comparing the before and after, seem to be worth supere any possible phobia of needles. The skin of those who have undergone treatment almost immediately looks firmer, fresher, plumper, brighter and more even, with a slight lifting and firming effect. The plus? It's not as invasive as Botox, and unlike hyaluronic acid-based fillers or other skin boosters, rather than staying in one area to fill in creases or plump cheekbones or lips, Profhilo spreads into the skin to improve the overall complexion and rejuvenates the appearance of the skin by improving its hydration levels, texture and overall radiance. The goal is to rejuvenate the skin from within by working with hyaluronic acid, which human bodies naturally metabolize, to promote the production of natural collagen and elastin (whose reserves normally tend to deplete as we age), without altering facial features. The other advantage of this treatment is that it not only applies to the face, but can be applied to any part of the body, making it an especially attractive and versatile solution for people suffering from dry or aging skin in places such as the neck, arms, hands, or knees.
