Interview with the 22-year-old Global Make-up Expert for Dolce&Gabbana Beauty
May 16th, 2024
The youngest of veterans, Jake Warden, is only 22 years old and already a Global Make-up Expert for Dolce&Gabbana Beauty, much like Cecile Bernaerts. His online experience as a makeup influencer, with splashes of creativity and graphic eyeliner, serves as his resume and portfolio. He told us himself, and we couldn't help but listen, captivated.
"I’ve been in the makeup and social media world for almost 10 years now, so while I am very young, I’ve been in the industry for a while and considered an OG in the beauty influencing world. I went viral for my super bold make up looks and doing make up as a boy of my age was such a statement at the time. When Dolce&Gabbana Beauty noticed my work and wanted me to be a part of what they were doing, I was so in love with everything that they were creating, I knew I had to be a part of it as well and we would make a perfect team. It means so much to have a brand as prestigious as Dolce&Gabbana Beauty to not only notice your work, but want to highlight and expand on your artistry, while representing their brand, is a huge honor. To me, it means creative celebration, growth, and recognition." So much so, that it monopolized his future, at least in the medium term: "I have a lot of exciting projects that I am working on, some I cannot discuss. For now, my main focus is to represent and showcase my love, support and admiration for Dolce&Gabbana Beauty and get the world to see and experience their incredible products! This partnership is playing a huge role in my life and I am blessed to dedicate myself to it!"
Jake Warden's experience: from social network to success
All this, perhaps, would never have happened without social networks, including TikTok. "Going viral on TikTok has given me the opportunity to further follow my dreams and continue to do what I love. I originally went viral on Instagram and my growth followed me onto TikTok and other social platforms. It took me from a small town in Longmont, Colorado to LA. I definitely had my ups and downs. When I first started as a boy artist, makeup was such a statement and a lot of people didn’t understand or support what I was doing at the time. I received a lot of hate online. I feel like it took some convincing with the world to accept me for who I am, value my creative expression and encourage me to keep going. Regardless, it opened me up and influenced me to thrive even more in my own career and to use that as fuel to strengthen my passions. I can’t imagine what I’d do if I ever gave up on something that made me so happy!" And this also connects to his advice for anyone wanting to embark on a similar path: "My advice would be to do what you love and not listen to anyone’s negative comments or hate. Allow it to fuel and inspire your next move. I think in order to find happiness and success with what you do, you have to love it and that doesn’t necessarily mean that everyone else will accept that or understand. But you grow, evolve, and continue, regardless."
His passion for art and beauty is not only expressed through makeup: "I always say I was gifted a talent of making things beautiful and aesthetically pleasing. I’m really good with interior design and transforming homes and spaces with my artistic vision. I do very well with colors, patterns and textures and creating statements of art with anything I touch". This passion has been with him forever: "When I was in elementary school, I was super artistic; I loved to draw and paint so my dream was to be an artist. I wanted to create things to share and inspire the world and I feel that is exactly what I’m doing now in my own way".
It's impossible not to ask him for a professional opinion on the products he loves. "My daily glam, I usually like to keep my skin pretty natural and fresh with the Dolce&Gabbana Beauty Blueberry Nutri-Tint. I love a super glowy look for an easy everyday finish. I love to make a statement on the eyes with color and the holographic shades from the Eye Dare You Palette. I’m also a huge fan of graphic liners and a pop of color on the inner corners, that’s always fun and easy!" he tells us. "My go-to as of recently is the Dolce&Gabbana Beauty Mint Lip Oil. Having hydrated and glossy lips is essential for me. I also love the pumping effect and fun fact, I literally can’t leave my house without applying it." And who are we to not follow his advice?
