Ribbon eyes: what are they and how to make them
The new makeup trend created by Pat McGrath

February 20th, 2025
The last Paris Haute Couture Week 2025 brought a lot of new trends, but among them, there's one that's making everyone go crazy: the ribbon eyes. If you don't know them yet, get ready to see them everywhere, and maybe to reproduce them on your face, for a soft but extraterrestrial twist.
Ribbon eyes: what are they?
This ethereal and sophisticated look was created by the queen of makeup Pat McGrath for the Spring/Summer Schiaparelli show and has all the ingredients to become the trend of the moment. It's an eye makeup look with sculpted pastel colors extending beyond the brow bone, like a delicate ribbon embracing the gaze. The secret behind this trend? McGrath chose nude tones as the base, accentuated by shimmer shades of yellow, pink, gold, and blue, inspired by the vintage ribbons used by Daniel Roseberry, the creative director of Schiaparelli, in the collection. The result is a super elegant and somewhat angelic look, making the eyes the real star of the face.
How to recreate the ribbon eyes look
It's not just the eyes that shine in this look. The models sported radiant skin, prepped with the Divine Skin: Rose 001 The Essence and the Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection Concealer for a flawless but lightweight base. To complete the look, a touch of Skin Fetish: Highlighter + Balm Duo added a natural glow, making every look shine. When it comes to the eyes, you can choose any pastel color you prefer. Apply it across the entire eyelid, up to the brow bone, and for a more elongated effect, blend it towards the temples as well. If you really want to be a trendsetter, the ribbon eyes are the trend not to be missed.
