Nike announces collaborations with Martine Rose, Yoon Ahn and Sarah Andelman
Swoosh girl power?
October 1st, 2018
Not Virgil Abloh, Kim Jones, Richard Tisci, Jun Takahashi, John Elliott or Matthew Williams, this time Nike relies on creative female talent and, after presenting a new jewel sneaker with Rei Kawakubo during the PFW, announces collaborations on arrival with Martine Rose, Yoon Ahn of AMBUSH and with Sarah Andelman. The former colette will take care of a section of the Nike Unlaced website, a global reference point where women can find a selection of products dedicated to them; while the other two designers will create a complete collection, consisting of sneakers and clothing. Even if the details revealed are still scarce, WWD anticipates that Rose is working on a unisex capsule inspired by London's "street-and-sport"; besides persistent rumors and social accounts like py_rates, they claim that, among the creations of the talented English, there will be an unpublished version of Air Monarch. If all this is true, we will find out only at the end of 2018, when the various projects will be officially presented. What seems so far certain, is the enthusiasm of the three girls for the partnership with Nike, in particular that of Ahn who tells Vogue how this new collaboration is a sort of natural extension of his life "I consider myself a creative athlete "- affirms the founder of AMBUSH -"When preparing for a show or creating a new expression, you have to be mentally and physically strong to execute your vision and that takes a commitment of time and energy akin to any athlete perfecting their craft.” If these are the premises, the new capsules will surely be hot!
