The Miu Miu Women’s Tales #18 “Brigitte”
With Lynne Ramsay and Brigitte Lacombe
September 5th, 2019
A large London plumbing factory is the setting for the eighteenth appointment of Miu Miu Women's Tales, the series of short films directed by leading female international contemporary filmmakers invited to interpret the concept of femininity in the 21st century. This time the two women in the dialogue are Lynne Ramsay and Brigitte Lacombe.
The filmmaker, known for cult films such as ... and now let's talk about Kevin and A Beautiful Day, which gave Joaquin Phoenix the award for Best Actor at Cannes 2017, follows one of the most famous photographers in the world in a special shooting with a "cast" of creative brothers and sisters. Lacombe, who made her debut on the 1975 film set of All the President's Men and since then has made iconic portraits of many stars, from Meryl Streep to Sofia Coppola, tells himself and speaks openly about her life, her ideas. This exploration of the artist's creative process allows Ramsey to discover "Brigitte Lacombe's creative rhythms, her obsession with human details and the way her objective articulates a way of relating to the world".
The result of this new episode of Miu Miu Women's Tales premiered as part of the 76th Venice Film Festival program in the Giornate degli Autori section, is an interesting and sincere conversation between two women who have always been at the forefront of their respective fields.
