Victoria Beckham's SS21 collection
70s-inspired silhouettes, fluid pants, maxi dresses and gold chains
September 22nd, 2020
The rooms of Victoria Miro in London host Victoria Beckham's SS21 collection, 20 looks, mixing '70s and '90s influences, which show the wardrobe of an easy chic woman grounded in the contemporary.
Limitations can be liberating. Working remotely for this collection we reacted spontaneously. We were instinctive. We asked ourselves what has changed? Who do we want to be? What will we desire? This collection is about freedom—to explore, to dress up, to be yourself. It is rooted in our true DNA, our language; strong tailoring, sharp colour, modernity.
The result is an eclectic collection, featuring different silhouettes: trench coats, menswear suits similar to those worn by Mick Jagger, voluminous silk shirts matched with white tuxedo jackets and low waist and flared jeans, fluid dresses made sensual by cut-out elements; floaty parachute dresses, elongated pants, complemented by jewels and details with chunky gold chains.
The main protagonists of next season are the ultra-long pants with side splits, presented in apple green and cream color, which embody the vibe sixties that inspired Victoria for the new garments and need very high banana heeled shoes, decorated with the same gold chains that the models wear as necklaces.
