The Shazam of the handbags is coming

The Shazam of the handbags is coming Rebag's new app instantly identifies model and price of luxury bags

Are you wondering if it's worth reselling that Valentino bag you inherited from your mother or are you curious to know what brand it is and how much the fringed mini bag sported by Carrie in Sex & the City costs? Now there is a new device that helps you do it quickly and easily. It's called Clair AI and has just been launched by Rebag, a popular New York-based luxury handbag buying and reselling platform founded in 2014 by Charles Gorra

The way it works is, in some ways, similar to Shazam. The first step is to download the app from an iOS or Android device, or directly from Rebag's website. Then you take a frontal photo of the bag, preferably set on a plain background. The image-recognition software searches a database of more than 50 brands and 15,000 Clair codes, and seconds later, with 91% accuracy,  offers five possible results. Once you pick a match, the tool generates a price. Now it's up to the user to evaluate whether the quote received is appropriate and decide to continue by printing a shipping label needed to send the product by mail. Two to three business days later (which coincides with the delivery time), after which you automatically receive the amount expected by the Clair AI technology.

A tool like Clair AI serves as an educational tool for current and future luxury consumers, whether it’s to do something as simple as just identify a handbag, full-stop, or to understand the value of the bags they already own or would like to own. - Said Charles Gorra - Now anyone can scan and access the resale value of a handbag instantly, without any prior knowledge of the industry. - He added - We absolutely want Clair to be a reference point for resale pricing, and aim to eliminate subjective value.Clair by Rebag was created to standardize the market and deliver more transparent pricing information to resellers.

There's one thing, besides the fact that it's free, that makes this "Shazam for bags" even more interesting: the app doesn't just work to scan the bags in our closet, but also those we see in a store window, on a person on the street, in a magazine or worn by one of the characters from our favorite TV series.
