Kendall Jenner is launching a tequila brand
Will 818 Tequila be the new celebrities' favorite drink?
February 17th, 2021
Kendall Jenner is entering the food & beverage business. The model just announced from her Instagram profile that she is launching a tequila brand called, after the Calabasas area code, 818 Tequila.
For almost 4 years I've been on a journey to create the best tasting tequila. After dozens of blind taste tests, trips to our distillery, entering into world tasting competitions anonymously and WINNING. - she wrote in the caption - 3.5 years later I think we've done it! This is all we've been drinking for the last year and I can't wait for everyone else to get their hands on this to enjoy it as much as we do!
Eagle-eye fans may have noticed the bottle popping up in the background of many posts from the Kardashian-Jenner clan, particularly during the family's vacation in Mexico. One of the stops on that trip was Jalisco, which is known as the tequila capital of the world and is also the hometown of Kendall's new product.
It seems that 818 Tequila has won several awards, conquering even those who usually do not drink alcohol, such as Kim Kardashian who, supporting the new project of her younger sister, commented enthusiastically:
So proud of you! I wasn’t a drinker until I tried 818. Tequila shots all day!!!
Although there is no mention of its famous owner on the tequila's official Instagram, nor about the release date, some details are starting to leak out. We know that there will be three drinks, all made with 100% blue agave: Blanco Tequila aged for less than two months; Reposado Tequila that is aged less than a year; Añejo Tequila that has to wait up to three years before being tasted.
Will 818 Tequila be the new celebrities' favorite drink? Maybe. For sure Kendall will have to face the competition of many other stars who in recent years have become testimonials or have decided to produce their own brand of wine or liquor. Some examples? Sarah Jessica Parker, Cameron Diaz, Kate Hudson, Diane Keaton, Jay-Z, George Clooney, Drew Barrymore, Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie, Justin Timberlake. Even the fashion world, after conquering the food sector with restaurants and other collaborations, seems to be more and more interested in spirits as shown by Yoon Ahn who just restyled the Moët & Chandon bottle and Palace who presented a collection with Stella Artois.
