Kim Kardashian just announced that her brand, Skims, will be providing underwear, pajamas and loungewear for Team USA athletes competing in the Olympics and Paralympics starting next July 23 in Tokyo. In an Instagram post, the businesswoman expressed her enthusiasm for the project, explaining that the sporting event has been a part of her life, thanks to her mother's former partner Caitlyn Jenner, decathlon champion at the 1976 Montreal Games.
Ever since I was 10 years old, I’ve heard every single detail about the Olympics from my stepdad. - Says Kim - As I would watch the athletes compete, I would grow to understand the dedication and honor being a part of the Olympics embodied. I traveled with my stepdad and family to all different cities for the Olympic trials, and at every stop I would buy an Olympic t-shirt as a souvenir. When I received the call inviting Skims to be a part of Team USA, every moment I’ve spent admiring the strength and energy of the Olympians from the sidelines came full circle.
To present the collection, the KUWTK star hired 5 athletes who will be trying to win gold in their respective categories: the swimmer Haley Anderson, the basketball player A'ja Wilson, the track and field Paralympian Scout Bassett, the soccer player Alex Morgan and the track and field star Dalilah Muhammad. Each of them wears Skims' best sellers such as cotton boxers, high-waisted leggings, bralettes, tank tops, shorts or jersey tees. All pieces are embellished with the words Team USA, an American flag and the five rings that symbolize the Olympic competitions and are declined in the brand's characteristic neutral tones, from blue to beige.
Skims Olympics will also become a capsule collection available from July 12 on Kim Kardashian's brand website.
