Mermaidcore Style: from the hair to the outfit like a mermaid
Mermaid waves, seashell necklaces and Ariel-inspired looks
July 7th, 2021
Together with unicorns, mermaids are mythological creatures so fascinating that they never stop making us enchanted. This season then, the mermaids have also depopulated in fashion. From Versace's spring/summer 2021 collection, beloved by Emily Ratajkowski and Emili Sindlev, to the stars of video clips, like Behati Prinsloo in the videoclip of Lost by Maroon 5 and Levante herself in her Sirens. And then the unforgettable movies on the big screen, from Daryl Hannah in Splash to Cher in Mermaids to the iconic Ariel from The Little Mermaid, whose live action starring Halle Bailey is currently shooting.
The mermaidecore style is quite specific - in Italian it could be translated as an essential mermaid outfit - and is inspired by the colors of the seabed, seashells in all their shapes and the iridescence of fish tails. Turning into a mermaid is also possible by passing only through the beauty case, perhaps framing the face with some bright earring as if it came directly from the bottom of the sea. Try iridescent powders for eyes and cheeks, ad hoc shampoos for maritime hair and saline perfumes. And then experiment with mermaid waves, that is wavy hair, never backcombed at the root, with a curl similar to a frisé but more voluminous and wide. There are two techniques: once you have washed your hair, make two - or four - braids to dry in the open air. Or, opt for an ad hoc plate, with a triple head, capable of creating a wide wave, like ghd Oracle and Babyliss Deep Waves. Gently press the tool for about 5 seconds, moving each time, from the tip to the tip. And if you don't live in a seaside resort, to feel like a mermaid, do as Levante says: if there is no trace of the sea around us, let's take a bath in the rain. And for those wishing to become a mermaid for a day, you can try the course at Y-40 The Deep Joy, the deepest thermal water pool in the world which is an Italian excellence, in Montegrotto Terme, which has submerged spaces where you can juggle with siren tails.
