Spring-Summer 2022: the best beauty looks from the runways The brands tell us about the evolution of make-up and hair trends for the next seasons

The SS22 Fashion Week is almost over, with the Spring-Summer 2022 shows of the most popular fashion houses - finally back on physical catwalks surrounded by guests including influencers, stars and insiders. In addition to directing our choices in terms of clothing and accessories for the next season, the brands tell their vision of how make-up and hair trends are currently evolving and will evolve in the future. From Paris to Milan, the beauty looks focus on the celebration of diversity, of imperfect and human beauty, of the uniqueness of each individual, but also on the return to colorful, sparkling, bold make-up, which in the last years of the pandemic we had partly forgotten. From Versace's pop eyeliner to Dior's graphic eyeliner, from Etro's Coachella mood to Saint Laurent's glam, here are the beauty trends for next season according to the SS22 Fashion Week collections.

VERSACE

The focus of the beauty look created on top models and stars like Dua Lipa, Emily Ratajkowski and Lourdes Maria Ciccone for Versace catwalk is on the eyes: long and defined lines of eyeliner in shades of neon green and pop blue decorate the face and the complexion bonne mine. The hair is very long and perfectly straight, thanks to the application of extensions, and the hairstyle is completed by bandanas and scarves in vinyl or silk.

ETRO

Etro has chosen Lisa Butler as make-up artist and Damien Boissinot to lead the hairstyle team: the result is natural beauty looks, voluminous hair, Coachella inspired eye makeup with gems, glitters and crystals applied under the lower eyelid - not to be replicated. as soon as you can return to participate in summer festivals.

BLUMARINE

Nicola Brognano at the helm of Blumarine and stylist Lotta Volkova join forces in an explosive collection in full Y2K style, where the models show off glitter all over their body and hair with soft waves or gathered in hairstyles to be replicated, created by Anthony Turner for Tony & Guy in collaboration with L'Oreal. Gen-Z (and not only) approved!

VALENTINO

Valentino recently presented its first make-up collection Valentino Couture Make-up, used to create all the beauty looks of the spring-summer 2022 fashion show, presented in Paris with an exclusive "rendez-vous". The creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli wants to enhance, through clothes as well as through make-up, the uniqueness and beauty of each individual, customizing the beauty look based on the tastes and characteristics of each model and model.

ACNE STUDIOS

Like Blumarine and Etro, Acne Studios also chooses sequins and glitter applied in an unprecedented way on the lips of the models and used by make-up artist Peter Philips to illuminate the face and create contrast with the material texture of the garments in the collection. The hair is lightened in volume with a slight sleek effect, created by the hairstylist Gary Gill.

SAINT LAURENT

Sometimes a vibrant red lipstick is really enough to make an incredibly chic look, and Saint Laurent confirms this through the make-up chosen for the SS22 fashion show. Through the collections, the creative director Anthony Vaccarello manages to synthesize minimalism and maximalism in a perfect balance between the two opposites, both in the garments and in the beauty looks presented on the catwalk: red lips, XXL earrings and maxi sunglasses, often combined with headgear and bandanas, they manage to coexist perfectly framing the faces of the models.

DIOR

Peter Philips, Creative & Image Director of Dior Makeup, choose a beauty look to enhance the eyes, thanks to a double graphic eyeliner that recalls the mood of the 60s. The graphic but linear line in matt black is made with Diorshow on Stage Liner 096 Vinyl Black, while the complexion has been prepared with Dior Backstage Face & Body Primer 001 Universal, which makes the skin perfectly homogeneous and ensures a long-lasting effect, followed by from Dior Backstage Face & Body Foundation and finally the Dior Backstage Face & Body Powder-no-powder.

BALMAIN

Balmain chooses a minimalistic approach for its make-up, characterized by a luminous complexion and light shades around the eyes, for a natural but flawless effect. The naturalness of the beauty look creates a perfect contrast with the volumes and details of the creations that parade on the catwalk like contemporary armor.

GIVENCHY

In the latest collection of Givenchy by Matthew M. Williams there is a wealth of contrasts: luxury and functionality, sumptuousness and austerity, celebrated through an imperfect, human, real beauty. So also in the beauty looks this dualism is captured, accentuated by the contrast between the graphic eyeliner and the voluminous lashes specially designed under the lower eyelid and the nude complexion. The eyebrows and hair are natural, for a guaranteed messy chic effect.

LOEWE

Loewe by Jonathan Anderson SS22 collection features sculptural looks, with volumes and almost architectural shapes that look like deconstructed and distorted works of art, complemented by decorative elements like colorful and structured hairstyles.

LANVIN

Lanvin Spring-Summer 2022 is a tribute to Jeanne Lanvin's artistic legacy, but also to Alber Elbaz, who recently passed away, and to the glamor of the Maison in the heyday of its creative direction. Floating, light dresses, sequins and genderless flowers match perfectly with make-up with a luminous finish and shaded metallic eyeshadows, which recall the delicate colors of the dresses on the catwalk.

BURBERRY

Animal Instinct is the title of the spring-summer 2022 collection by Burberry by Riccardo Tisci, which combines the new experimental vision of the brand with a return to the wild, to the primordial instinct of man as an animal. This concept is represented by the garments in the collection but also by the free, neutral beauty look, with the addition of Bambi ears in the models' hair, to remind us of our deepest nature.
