Sanremo 2022: the best outfits and beauty looks of the second evening
From Elisa's graphic make-up to Emma, femme fatale in Gucci
February 2nd, 2022
The second evening of the Festival begins with a small tribute to Monica Vitti, who passed away in the last few hours, and continues with the performance of the other twelve artists in the competition. The first to descend the stairs of the Ariston is Sangiovanni in shades of pink and, after him, come Emma in diva version, the ethereal Elisa and all the others. Checco Zalone's unbearable sketches slow down the rhythm of the show, but thanks to God the guests, from Laura Pausini in Versace to Malika Ayane and Arisa, close the evening. The big breakthrough was the very shy and sweet Lorena Cesarini, who opted for dresses by Maison Valentino and Roberto Cavalli by Fausto Puglisi, but caught the eye by reading extracts from Tahar Ben Jelloun's book Racism Explained to My Daughter.
Here are the best outfits and beauty looks of the second evening of Sanremo 2022.
Sangiovanni
Brand: Diesel
Look: Sangiovanni walked down the steps of the Ariston with a smile on his face, unruly curls framing his face and a custom-made Diesel outfit in shades of pink. Jacket, trousers, t-shirt, trainers and glitter nail polish explore shades of pink, fuchsia and lilac, becoming the symbol of the singer's fluid style. A perfect example of #softboyaesthetic, complete with a necklace with his girlfriend's name on it. At Sanremo 2022 he sings Farfalle, but perhaps his look, although interesting and a way of telling the mainstream audience about a new form of masculinity, makes him a little awkward, depriving him of the lightness he talks about in the lyrics.
Emma
Brand: Gucci
Look: A true femme fatale ready to seduce the viewers. For Sanremo 2022, Emma opts for a total Gucci diva look: a midnight blue velvet evening dress with a sweetheart neckline and a crotch-high slit that reveals her lace tights. The accessories, from the chocker with blue and white crystals to the rings of the Gucci Link to Love collection in white gold, stones and diamonds, are chosen to emphasize the decisive and empowering sensuality of the dress. New asymmetric pixie cut and dramatic smokey eyes.
Francesca Michielin
Brand: Miu Miu
Look: Super cute. Francesca is not in the competition, but arrives at the Ariston as Emma's orchestral conductor in a lovely lilac Miu Miu mini-dress encrusted with sparkling crystals. The same ones she weaves into her hairstyle. The make-up in shades of purple and pink focuses on the eyes with thick, dramatic eye shadow and eyeliner. Definitely, one to copy.
Ditonellapiega & Rettore
Brand: Philosophy by Lorenzo Serafini
Look: Pure energy and an explosion of black & white. Ditonellapiega and Rettore went wild on the notes of Chimica in matchy outfits with vague seventies vibes. The Philosophy by Lorenzo Serafini power suit worn by Ditonellapiaga, suggested by Susanna Ausoni, a real talent behind many of the artists in the competition, was beautiful and retro.
Elisa
Brand: Maison Valentino
Look: Ethereal. As in 2001, when she won with Luce (Tramonti a Nord Est), Elisa chose, advised by stylist Susanna Ausoni, a luminous white. For her debut at Sanremo 2022 she wears a soft, poetic creation by Maison Valentino and makes it personal with a glow and clean make-up by @ginevracalie. The focus is on the eyes, defined by essential lines of white eyeliner (a real must-have beauty 2022, as seen also in the Dior haute couture show).
Irama
Brand: Givenchy
Look: Irama opted for Givenchy and a black and white look. The focus is on the fishnet top, accessorized with a chunky chain and the ever-present feather earring, which has become the singer's trademark.
Highsnob & Hu
Brand: Zegna
Look: Two opposites, mirror-like reflections of the same image, lost in an emotional embrace. Highsnob in black with gloves (the inevitable accessory for the men of Sanremo 2022), Hu in a total white suit. Both by Zegna.
