Summer sale for Fall Winter? Here's the mini-guide
How to use summer sales to anticipate Fall Winter trends
July 7th, 2023
Sales are an opportunity to save money on high-quality garments and include so-called statement pieces in our wardrobe. Here's what to buy on sale for a look fit for the coming cold season.
Trends for FW 23-24
The common denominator of the new trends is wearability, combined with bold designs and bright colours, without neglecting statement pieces, which give confidence and can be worn with various interpretations.
Between reassuring trench coats and white poplin shirts there are metallic flashes, bright reds, macro-flowers and checks verging on punk. The important thing is to put aside the current outside temperature and rely on strategic choices with no seasonality limits. As Vivienne Westwood reminded us, the trick in the end is: 'buy less, choose well and make it last'.
The must-have outerwear, straight from the catwalks
If Marie Adam-Leenaerdt brought to the catwalk for FW 23 the very long trench coat worn with equally long jeans, the strategic purchase during the sales is the trench coat with wide lapels by Patou. The hourglass shape, dominant in the coming season, seen on the Sportmax catwalk in a total butter-coloured look, is taken up by Balenciaga's blazer, patiently waiting to be bought on sale. Bottega Veneta's soft oversized shoulders, on the other hand, can be found in Acne Studios' sugar paper blazer. Loewe's long leather coat can be compared to the Proenza Schouler White Label jacket.
The pieces to complete the look
Also interesting is the white shirt that Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons paired with an asymmetrical skirt and black ballet flats: the look can be replicated with Courregès's white shirt with pointed collar and pockets. We can take a cue from Chanel's all-over black and white florals, which are transformed into Andersson-Bell's camel, acid green and turquoise pullover. While Issey Miyake's extreme burgundy, cream and black check goes hand in hand with We11Done's maxi check shirt. While the dancing gleams on Gucci's catwalk equally sparkle on Ganni's mini dress between flounces and lights. For a casual look, Miu Miu's hoodie, worn with a coat and matching leggings, can be replaced by Sporty & Rich's hoodie. Then, finally, we come to the trousers in the iconic red Ferragamo, worn by the super Aymeline Valade, which awaits you discounted by Jacquemus.
