Fiorucci returns to Italy

A new CEO and a new creative director to pick up where it all began

Fiorucci returns to Italy A new CEO and a new creative director to pick up where it all began

Fiorucci officially announces its return to Italy, thus writing a new chapter in the brand's history. With the complete acquisition by Dona Bertarelli, under the leadership of newly appointed CEO Alessandro Pisani and new Creative Director Francesca Murri, the brand will embark on a process of creative reconstruction in its city of origin, Milan. "Our mission now is to revive that unmistakable playful attitude and reshape its disruptive legacy to inspire a new generation" stated Pisani. This task has been entrusted to Francesca Murri, a designer whose experience ranges from Versace to Giorgio Armani, Gucci, Givenchy, and Ferragamo. Her first collection for Fiorucci will be presented next September during Milan Fashion Week.

The visionary Elio Fiorucci opened his store on Galleria Passarella in Milan in 1967, after being inspired to bring the counter-cultural innovation of London's Carnaby Street to his hometown. After perfecting his model and starting production of his own collections, he exported his concept to New York in 1976. Fiorucci's famous "daytime Studio 54" housed Andy Warhol's Interview magazine headquarters and welcomed young emerging artists such as Keith Haring and Madonna, becoming a thriving cultural hub. It is a piece of Italian history that is now renewed with new energy right where it all began.
