Made in Italy pareos for summer 2023
The iconic garment of summers by the sea declined by the talent of made-in-Italy brands
August 2nd, 2023
The pareo is the most important accessory of the beach aesthetic. The secret of its unbroken appeal? Comfort, versatility and a touch of nostalgia. That's right, because it's enough to knot it around your waist or wrap it around your neck to feel the scent of coconut, the salt on your skin, your feet sinking into the sand and bringing back memories of happy summers and lazy days at the beach. When we go on holiday, it's almost impossible not to pack one of these in our suitcase, especially if the destination is a beach. With a little styling hack or a change of accessories, it can be transformed into a skirt, a top, a dress and even a beach towel or a scarf. Which model we choose depends only on our taste: long, short, flowered, plain, linen, silk, fringed, tie-dye, ... in the twinkling of an eye, we transform ourselves into a Gauguin woman or perhaps simply into the most relaxed and summery version of ourselves.
G-Club has selected the made-in-Italy pareos for summer 2023.
Panarehi
One garment, a thousand possibilities. When Serena La Rosa founded Panarehi, she decided to focus everything on a single garment with infinite potential: the sarong. So she launched a comprehensive and versatile island wear brand, where each model is made by Italian artisans. So many variations in one size for many body types: Cotton, viscose, printed, plain, fringed, casual or chic. The brand's sarongs are so cool that they also look perfect in the city when combined with a tank top or bralette and a nice pair of sandals.
Abstract
Since 2014, the year of its first abstract motif, Abstract has been experimenting with prints, textile processing and special patterns that are transformed into sarongs, scarves, beach towels and garments. Each product is made in the Lake Como area by textile artisans who pass on their passion for their work from generation to generation. The pareos of this made-in-Italy brand with their delicate stripes are versatile and elegant and can be transformed into dresses, scarves, turbans, shawls, tops and headbands with a little imagination and styling.
Club Airò
Like last year, pareos from Club Airò, the brand of Alessandra Airò, and Madame Pauline Vintage, Milan's iconic shopping destination, are back for 2023. The new pieces, which sell out as soon as they appear, have animalistic, bandana or patterns reminiscent of the tropics and safari style. They are beautiful, almost works of art that you can show off on holiday, but also in town for an aperitif or a night out with friends. Wherever you are, just wear one to feel the sun kissing your skin, the salt on your skin and, knotted around your waist, the memories of your happiest summers.
Kampos
Kampos was founded in 2019 and was born out of unconditional love and respect for the Mediterranean Sea. This fascinating natural resource provided the impetus for the name, which comes from the Greek word κάμπος, which translates as "sea creature", and which not only became a constant inspiration but also drove the brand's founders to create a socially responsible reality. Indeed, the swimming costumes and beachwear are made entirely in Italy from sustainable and 100% recyclable materials. The prints and colours of the pareos are inspired by the flora and fauna of Sardinia, the land that is home to Kampos: cacti, sea urchins, octopuses, corals and plants like the bougainvillaea.
Masarà
Masarà means "soaking wet" in Milanese dialect and is the name Francesca Fabris chose to create a brand that combines sustainability (the fabrics are made of ECONYL® and elastane), the sea and a passion for fashion. The SS23 collection is inspired by the film La Piscine by Jacques Deray and includes bikinis, one-piece swimming costumes and sarongs. The sarongs look more like mini-skirts - not for nothing is the model called Yaya Beach Skirt - and are monochrome, declined in classic black and blue, but also in vitamin tones such as orange and acid green.
Los Trapitos Al Sol
Carolina Sanchez was born in Medellin, Colombia, in the autumn of 1977 and moved to Milan at the age of 21, where she decided to stay and start her brand, Los Trapitos al Sol, which means "clothes hung in the sun" but is also a Colombian proverb meaning "to have been discovered" Her speciality? Striped or tropical printed swimming costumes that combine boho chic, deconstructé style with European flair. All Los Trapitos al Sol garments are made in Italy using Italian, Spanish and French fabrics.
Cherì
"Feel sexy and dress sustainably" is the motto of Cherì, a Roman swimwear brand founded by Carolina Rulli and Alessandra Branchesi. Their trademark is swimwear and party dresses that combine glamour and fun. The SS23 collection is inspired by Ibiza and is made from sensitive fabrics certified by Eurojersey and then hand-assembled in artisan workshops in Rome. The pareos are monochrome, more like pareo skirts and skorts (i.e. mini skirts with shorts).
The Coast Capri
Lemons, bougainvillaea, the sea, majolica, stripes, … The Coast Capri is a swimwear brand inspired by nature and the beauty that surrounds Carpi and the Amalfi Coast. The design and patterns of the bikinis, one-piece swimming costumes and sarongs have a retro inspiration, reminiscent of the dolce vita spirit of Sophia Loren and Gina Lollobrigida, but with a modern twist. Each garment is made by local artisans (mostly women).
