Look for a late summer wedding
An invitation to a late summer wedding is a minefield: weather, colours and heel height to watch out for!
August 21st, 2023
Dressing appropriately for a late summer wedding is a jackpot: not only because weather conditions can change from one minute to the next, but also because bright colours are most popular in these months and we know that any white and its shades should be absolutely forbidden according to the bride's dictates. Also, it is risky to choose the height of the heel. Locations are usually outdoors and there could be gravel, sand or even mud if the weather doesn't cooperate.
We must not be intimidated by these venues, certainly the bride must be the most beautiful, but the guests also need an appropriate look to complete a harmonious environment and be decorated to the smallest detail, as is the case for a wedding, and above all, if possible, we must comb through the photos of the location in advance to understand what to discard immediately.
Summer wedding look: avoid white and replace it with pastel colours
OK, white is inevitably frowned upon in the wedding guest order, but if you want to dress in bright colours, that's not a problem. It's just a matter of choosing the right undertone: cold or warm? If you would normally have preferred a cream colour, then it is better to choose a pastel yellow. If, on the other hand, you would have chosen an optical white, it is better to go for a pastel with cool undertones such as a light blue or green. Although strong, dark colours are predominant in fashion shows and celebrity looks this year, pastels are never a wrong choice. A light-coloured suit, either with trousers or a skirt, is very sophisticated.
To take advantage of the softness of pastels, you can also mix more than one colour. Lilac and yellow are a winning combination, as are light blue and baby pink. It is advisable to choose nude shoes so as not to overload such a sophisticated outfit. Or you can opt for the same shade, but in shocking colours, and play with the different colour nuances
Summer wedding look: fluttery or satin maxi skirt

Both in summer and autumn, maxi skirts are a must in the shop windows and on the streets: Depending on the weather they are perfect, in summer without tights they are very elegant, fluttery or bohemian, while on colder days it is better to opt for a beautiful mermaid skirt, made of satin and tight to the silhouette. Maxi skirts give the wearer an instant look and are never out of place, whether with square-toed or stiletto heels or super-fashionable ballet shoes.
Summer wedding look: silk trousers
What about trousers? If you really hate skirts of any kind, you can achieve the same look with maxi-palazzo trousers. For a more formal look, soft fabrics are recommended, perhaps silk or brocade. The movement of the palazzo trousers, along with a particular shirt or jacket, gives the whole look a flowing character and makes your walk look like a dance. On the other hand, if you prefer a less feminine style, choose darker colours and a jacket that buttons at the waist (even double-breasted). To wear classic black palazzo trousers in the evening, simply pair them with a sparkly top.
Summer wedding look: printed dress
Floral prints are a must in every season, you see them all the time, and it's up to you to choose the most eye-catching and sophisticated ones. The best floral dresses for women tell the story of spring and summer just like knitwear for autumn or outerwear for winter. Why not look for a new floral dress for the occasion, be it a mini that exposes the legs, a loose maxi dress or a versatile midi dress that flatters the figure?
Floral dresses are extremely idyllic, charming details like a corsage, a bit of lace or a flounce neckline exude sweetness - a perfect choice for anyone who loves romantic looks. But florals don't necessarily mean a more eccentric or unusual style for those who like to impress. Inspired by the Chinese qipao and their elegance, we see Ursula Corbero in this floral but anything but obvious look.
Unforgettable two pieces worn by Kendall Jenner on the streets of Portofino and the Dolce & Gabbana inspired Italian touch of Sicily. Elegant yet unique for a wedding invitation, watch out because you might be the one with the most striking look. Classic but, if well coordinated, sensual and fitting for the occasion: recommended.
Remember to bring a blazer or cardigan for the evening - if the dress is more romantic - to add the perfect outerwear to the look that can finish off the party without ruining the outfit.
Summer wedding look: how to choose shoes
Since weddings are notoriously short-lived and "touch-and-go" is disrespectful to the bride and groom, it's best not to reach for the highest stilettos you own for this occasion, unless you're particularly used to them or have a spare shoe with you. Also perfect for the season are ballet flats, which were the revelation of the year this 2023 and are still on the crest of the wave. Flat or with a chunky, square heel, they can make any look a little retro or even more special.
Low heels with a sturdy base can also have what it takes, wonderfully even those with two straps and a square toe: they add a modern touch to a more classic look and, why not, if you choose them in an eye-catching colour or a beautiful metallic hue, you can give your outfit a whole new vibe.
