Miu Miu launches new limited edition collection Miu Miu Upcycled
Highlights include denim and, for the first time, Patch bags
January 8th, 2024
From 2020, Miu Miu is committed to the appreciation of vintage garments and the promotion of circular design with the Miu Miu Upcycled project. In 2024, the brand returns with a new limited edition collection focusing on denim and, for the first time, Patch bags. The brand, led by Miuccia Prada, begins with a series of jeans made before the year 2000, selected by denim specialists from around the world for their colour, weight and fading to give them a second life.
The result is more than a wardrobe of wide-leg jeans, jackets, tops and shorts and accessories such as baseball caps and headbands: It's a study in circularity that honours the origins of clothing while refashioning it for modern life. In addition to the two labels - a printed leather label with the Miu Miu Upcycled logo and a starched white canvas inner label with the same lettering - the elements that give the garments a new touch also include the floral embroidery. Each flower is hand embroidered with silk chiffon petals, faceted beads and black crystals in antique metal. This type of decoration also pays homage to the past and was inspired by 1950s haute couture, but was first seen on the Miu Miu catwalk for the spring/summer 2022 season in a golden version.
The real news is that the Miu Miu Upcycled project also includes a bag collection for the first time. The Patch bag collection, made from leather scraps used in the brand's designs, is presented alongside the upcycled garments in a new campaign photographed by Jet Swan and styled by Lotta Volkova. In the images, which focus on the relationship between garment and wearer, actress Ever Anderson and model Huijia Chen wear the Chinese New Year capsule collection, which includes polo shirts, cardigans, cashmere slips and the iconic Wander and Arcadie bags.
The Miu Miu Upcycled Denim and Patch Bags collections are now available in selected Miu Miu stores worldwide and on miumiu.com.
