We were with Pandora at Copenhagen Fashion Week
The collaboration with Rotate and everything you missed out on
August 8th, 2024
Pandora has not forgotten its roots. During Copenhagen Fashion Week, the brand opened its first PR Studio in the city, complete with a styling suite for media and creators, and launched the BE LOVE series. With exclusive events, panels, yoga sessions, workshops, meet-ups, and a special runway show in collaboration with Rotate, here's everything you missed during an intense and beautiful marathon in the Danish capital.
The Panel Talk and Workshop
On August 7th, Pandora welcomed media, creators, and fashion enthusiasts to a stimulating discussion among experts, where industry leaders and consumers came together to talk about the concept of accessible luxury, how it is reshaping various sectors, and why it is poised to remain important for a long time. On August 8th, Pandora's commitment to self-expression and creativity took the form of an interactive workshop, where participants had the opportunity to explore the art of tufting. Textile artist and Pandora Disney 100 creator Aliyah Salmon led the workshop, guiding participants in creating and customizing their own pieces. Their smiles say it all!
Pandora and Rotate Together on the Runway
Pandora collaborated with the Danish fashion brand Rotate for the SS25 runway show. Rings, bracelets, and ear cuffs from the Pandora Essence collection, with their sculptural forms, adorned the runway looks. The iconic Snake Chain bracelet and hoop earrings from the Pandora Moments collection were also featured. The jewelry added an unexpected touch and interesting contrast to the outfits. The show also featured custom pieces, handmade by artist Grete Henriette. A maxi dress was embellished with 2000 Pandora Timeless Silver Tennis bracelets, while belts and floral appliqués were handcrafted using over 300 14K gold-plated Pandora Moments necklaces.
To mark this collaboration, we asked a few questions to Jeanette Madsen and Thora Validmars, the creative directors of the brand.
The collaboration between Rotate and Pandora combines the key elements of both worlds. What was the initial vision that guided this partnership?
Both Rotate and Pandora are born in Denmark, but have a large international following, and so the collaboration is an opportunity for us to connect our strong communities – both local and global, and celebrate Nordic fashion! Our brands connect over shared values of: sustainability, authenticity, quality, design integrity but also playfulness and fun, it is a perfect match on many levels.
Jewelry often has a very strong personal meaning for the wearer. How did you incorporate this emotional aspect into the partnership?
The SS25 collection is built around creating an emotive experience, so the jewellery was incredibly important to continue this message into all aspects of the looks. This season we wanted to invoke an sensory experience from the collection: the emotional response to summer, the lightness, frivolity, freedom and romance of the season. Our mood board was a visceral response to the season, blossoming flowers, delicate natural colours, elegant fabrics, working coherently to form a movie- like sequence of looks through the collection. We incorporated Pandora’s existing products as well as hand-crafted bespoke pieces designed by Pandora partner, Grete Henriette, into the styling to bring an element of sculpture and balance to the ethereal collection.
How does Pandora Essence fit into your aesthetics and what was the starting point of the styling process to incorporate the collection into the fashion show?
We love the pieces that we have used from the Pandora Essence collection. We have used rings, bracelets and earrings, that are elegant, raw and sculptural, adding modernity and edge to our flirtatious and romantic collection.
What is the main inspiration behind the Fringe dress and how important is craftsmanship in your work?
Throughout the collection we have drawn inspiration from the 1920s in our details and finishes, where you will find fringing, stained-glass style and scalloped sequin embellishments, ruffles and frills, relaying the sense of optimism and escapism synonymous with the period. The dress crafted by Henriette for Pandora mirrors the silhouette of a dress in our ready to wear collection, with a high neck and a petal shaped skirt. The dress is elegantly draped, echoing the folds of flower petals, and the delicacy of the piece Henriette has crafted: with its layered and fringed chains, also mirrors these naturalistic movements.
The Icing on the Cake
To conclude the week's program, Pandora hosted the closing event for its "When Fashion Meets Jewellery" collaboration with the Royal Danish Academy. This collaboration involved a six-week course during which master's students from the Royal Danish Academy were tasked with integrating Pandora jewelry into their fashion creations. Two winners – Juliane Margot Rigne Jørgensen and Sarah Blicher Bruunsgard Bek – were awarded first and second prizes of 20,000 DKK and 10,000 DKK, respectively. This is yet another demonstration of the brand's commitment to supporting and empowering the next generation of designers.
