When I say
Sailor Moon, what comes to mind? If you were born in the '90s, you'd probably answer: white boots, little skirts and bows, childhood, dolls, and playing with friends and cousins, dances, scepters, and transformation choreographies. Not only that, but also the admiration we felt for these
stellar heroines, the desire to look up to them, to be like them, and to
fight against injustice without sacrificing style.
Jimmy Choo and Sailor Moon together again
It's exactly these feelings that
Jimmy Choo wants to tap into, renewing
its collaboration with Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon for
a second release. A capsule collection inspired by the manga that defines the zeitgeist created by
Naoko Takeuchi, further exploring the Sailor Moon universe. The references remain the same as in the first launch, highlighting the
shared values between these superheroines and Jimmy Choo: empowerment, individuality, and dynamic female creativity.
"I love what Sailor Moon stands for: the power that comes from femininity, a strength found through unity, and the belief that you can protect the good. I find these ideas inspiring, and I continue to be amazed by how Sailor Moon touches and inspires so many people around the world, the genuine love from fans of all generations. It has been exciting for me to further explore the superheroines of this deep and rich creative universe. I was interested in honoring a true reflection of the manga, the characters, the escapism, and the idea of the Guardians as pop icons," said Sandra Choi, Creative Director of the brand.
And it's not just about the bags. Anime fans (and others) are also falling for the shoes, which seem to have stepped straight off the screen and out of the manga, materializing childhood dreams at our feet. There's something for everyone: lace-ups, sneakers, heeled boots of various heights, and chunky soles, because Sailor Moon and Jimmy Choo have thought of everyone.
The Campaign
The collection is brought to life with a dynamic campaign visual and video that evokes key shared values between the super heroines and Jimmy Choo, conceived by artist Yoshirotten's Tokyo based design studio YAR. The campaign visual and video plays with animation of the ten Sailor Guardians and their planet symbols, and the concepts of colour to present a series of striking visuals and moving image where the shoes and bags are the heroes, and the personality of the respective Sailor Guardians are represented. Jimmy Choo x Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon is available now at jimmychoo.com and select boutiques worldwide.
