Lana Del Rey is Still the Ultimate Americana Icon

Since the release of Video Games in 2011, Elizabeth Woolridge Grant, aka Lana Del Rey, has taken the music world by storm with her iconic discography – from Norman Fucking Rockwell! to Blue Banisters –, elegant rhythms, glamorous inspirations, and singular voice. In addition to her distinctive music style, the singer has captivated many with her approach à la Americana. Since her breakthrough album Born to Die, the musician has incorporated visuals associated with the United States of America's culture, such as the national anthem, the nation's flag – although she abandoned the symbol during Donald Trump's presidency – and references to iconic American figures such as Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, John F. Kennedy, Jacqueline Kennedy, Cyndi Lauper, Amy Winehouse, and Angelina Jolie. "All my albums are somewhat rooted in Americana'' Lana del Rey shared in a recent interview. With a wardrobe with red all-stars, references to Old Hollywood, American flag sweaters, bandanas, denim pieces, flannel shirts, fringed jackets, boho white dresses, military print, cowboy boots, star-printed accessories, pieces in red, white or blue, and gingham blouses, Lana Del Rey has not only created a musical aesthetic but also a fashion one, both of which are inextricably linked. Now, girls are donning gingham blouses, mini denim shorts, white sneakers, and heart shaped sunglasses to replicate the singer's legendary retro aesthetic.

With her 10th studio album in the works, Lasso, described as Southern Gothic ''more pointed in a classic country, American'' production, Lana Del Rey remains as the ultimate Americana icon. Even more so after she was spotted in Paris, France in a full vintage-like regalia. The singer proves that her wardrobe is still pretty much the right source for Americana inspiration in a cherry red top, denim skirt, white flats, and a mini leather backpack.
