Miu Miu's Christmas is Upcycled, a sustainable collection between past and present

Emma Corrin, Miu Miu, the love for circular fashion, and the festive season—combine these elements, and you have the new Miu Miu Upcycled collection. Launched alongside the Holiday 2024 campaign, featuring Emma Corrin and shot by Lengua, the Milanese brand’s Upcycled project enters its fifth season just in time for the 2024 holidays. For the first time, it introduces a complete wardrobe, showcasing Miu Miu’s passion for vintage and commitment to sustainable design. Past and present intertwine with recycled leather, kilts from the 1950s to the 1970s, archive yarns, and lace embroidery, reimagining existing materials with Miu Miu’s seductive, rebellious, and naïve style.

The Miu Miu Upcycled 2024 Collection: Leather, Kilts, Embroidery, and Recycled Yarns 

The Miu Miu Upcycled 2024 collection is divided into four chapters, each focusing on specific materials and techniques: leather, kilts, yarns, and embroidery. Upcycled leather features carefully selected leather sourced globally, initially debuted in FW22, and now deconstructed and reconstructed for 2024. Vintage biker-style jackets, paired with shorts and mini skirts, are revived with floral and flame motifs inspired by the Miu Miu SS11 runway and jewel embellishments from the FW24 collection. Each jacket, blending craftsmanship, coolness, and a touch of rawness, is entirely reworked to be unique, featuring satin linings, detachable shearling collars, and meticulously reconstructed raw-edged zippers and hems, complete with the iconic Miu Miu logo.

The Upcycled kilts focus on vintage kilts from the 1950s to the 1970s, with modified proportions designed to sit low on the hips. Miu Miu artisans added new leather closures and played with tartan patterns, creating trompe l’oeil black effects or adding sparkling hand-stitched embroidery for a luxurious girly-punk finish.

Archive yarns are hand-crafted into soft mélange wool pieces: hoodies, oversized crew-neck sweaters, scarves, and other cozy accessories, all adorned with a crocheted Miu Miu logo. Among the coziest and cutest items in the collection are the Wander bag and knitted slippers.

The Miu Miu Upcycled 2024 collection is more than just an homage to circular fashion—it also expands the range of festive (and beyond) outfits. Choosing one of these creations means opting for a unique, personal look that is also sustainable.
