Our dream is the Peggy Gou's collection of bags
A bag can make you look cool, but also powerful and self-confident

March 31st, 2025
What if women’s empowerment also passed through our handbags? The ultimate accessory—already a symbol of independence and self-expression—the handbag has become a cornerstone of the fashion world, a central element in any collection and look. Launching the next hit bag is perhaps the toughest challenge for the creative directors of prestigious fashion houses today (aside from boosting revenue, ça va sans dire). Meanwhile, iconic models continue to grow in value and cement their legendary status. Over the years, handbags have evolved into the ultimate luxury item. Throughout the 20th century, they reflected the growing freedom of women—who, after the war, began going out alone, not just for work but for leisure as well. They also perfectly embody the savoir-faire of brilliant creative minds like Coco Chanel and Christian Dior. Even today, this accessory carries multiple messages: power, self-confidence, and emancipation. And it’s not just us saying it—the images we’ve gathered in this article speak for themselves. Who do they feature? Peggy Gou, the DJ of the moment, and her impressive collection of designer handbags. A carefully curated selection that could make even the coolest influencers envious, proving that choosing the right accessory can influence how others perceive you—and perhaps even how we see ourselves. Of course, Peggy Gou’s aura—as Gen Z calls it—certainly plays its part.
Who is Peggy Gou?
An internationally renowned DJ—best known for her hit (It goes like) nanana—Peggy Gou was born in South Korea. At 14, she left her home country for London to study English. She stayed there to pursue fashion, her first passion, until her love for music led her to Berlin, the heart of techno and electronic music. A regular at Berghain (Berlin’s legendary club, editor’s note), she eventually became the first Korean woman to perform there. From there, her DJ career skyrocketed, accompanied by a stint as a designer for her own brand, Kirin. Music and fashion have always gone hand in hand for her, making her Instagram profile one of the most inspiring to follow for style enthusiasts. And that’s exactly where we browsed to find some of her most iconic handbags, which we’ve gathered here for you.
Peggy Gou’s Handbags: The Chanel 31
The Chanel 31 was created for the Spring-Summer 2019 collection by Karl Lagerfeld. The number 31 is a play on the address of Rue Cambon, where the fashion house has historically been located, and the French expression "se mettre sur son 31," meaning to dress up elegantly. Here, Peggy Gou carries the classic black version—très chic—as well as a smaller, two-tone variation.
Mini Chanel
The signature quilted pattern is a recurring theme in Peggy Gou’s handbag collection—and who could blame her? Here, Chanel makes another appearance with the Kelly model (Fall/Winter 2023-2024) in baby blue and a neon mini version of the 2.55 in fabric.
Hermès, but Make It Pop
Peggy Gou’s Hermès collection is anything but conventional, featuring unexpected colors and classic designs enhanced with playful charms and pop details. Take these two examples: a lime green maxi Birkin and a smaller cerulean one. Both, of course, impeccably accessorized.
Birkin Cargo
And that’s not all—because, of course, there are also some limited editions. Take the Cargo version in sizes 25 and 35, in black and sesame, respectively. Perfect for sportier days.
The Louis Vuitton Speedy
Can a Louis Vuitton bag be missing from a true fashion addict’s wardrobe? We don’t think so—especially when it comes to two re-editions of the iconic Speedy. The first, designed by Pharrell Williams (Spring/Summer 2024), features the monogram in a striking red and white colorway. The second is a mini version in baby blue.
Maison Alaïa
We have no doubt in saying that the Teckel bag by Maison Alaïa is the "it" bag of the moment. In Peggy Gou’s looks, we spot it in two versions: a shoulder bag in deep blue leather and a top-handle style in dark brown suede—both, of course, accessorized with charms.
Bottega Veneta
From quilted designs to monograms, we naturally arrive at woven textures. Bottega Veneta makes its mark with a maxi version of the Ancora bag in a striking yellow-and-black bicolor combination, alongside a mini Jodie in cherry red—simply delightful.
Miuccia Mon Amour
We stay in Italy with the queen herself, Miuccia Prada. Among Peggy Gou’s bags, we spot a Prada Re-Edition 1978 in camel-colored Saffiano and nylon, as well as a Miu Miu mini bucket bag in denim with leather details. Classy—with a stylish twist.
Schiaparelli
We’re closing with a showstopper: the Anatomy Jewelry Bag by Schiaparelli. Its trompe-l’oeil face design echoes Elsa Schiaparelli’s love for surrealism, making it one of the brand’s most iconic accessories—now reimagined under the creative genius of Daniel Roseberry. A true must-have.
