Hair dryer: 5 most common mistakes
Do's and don'ts while using the hairdryer
June 14th, 2021
When drying your hair, especially in summer, you don't always have the time (or the desire) to mimic the careful work of the hairdresser. The hairdryer is in fact an indispensable tool for having perfect and long-lasting hair; however, if it is not used in the right way, it can become a double-edged sword because it has the power to damage both the skin and the hair. Furthermore, the correct use of the hairdryer allows you not to waste electricity unnecessarily, taking into account that we are talking about one of the most "energy-intensive" appliances. However, it is important to know that, while the heat of a badly used hairdryer can cause the damage listed above, the correct use of a hairdryer can be healthier than leaving the hair wet in the air. This is because when the hair comes into contact with water, it swells; and the longer the swelling continues, the greater the pressure exerted on the delicate proteins, which could be damaged. Here are the mistakes to avoid.
1. Dab the hair with a cotton towel
A cotton-based towel causes friction on the hair and is more prone to damage it. If you want to get rid of excess water, do not dry wet hair vigorously with a towel, dab it with a microfiber cloth or an old clean cotton t-shirt.
2. Forget the heat protector
Very often it is believed that sprays or products that protect from heat should only be applied if you are using the soleplate or the iron. Very wrong! This cosmetic serves to save the hair from potential breakage by reducing the damage of the hot air emanating from the hairdryer.
3. Use the air jet in all directions
Many of us move the hair dryer back and forth up and down each section of the hair or simply keep it in one place. This is all wrong! To dry your hair properly you have to start from the root of the hair and go down. This way you will get a neat style and dry your hair much faster.
4. Keep the blow dryer too close to your hair
In order not to damage the hair, the hair dryer must remain at least 10 centimeters away. In this way you avoid burning the hair and you get an impeccable styling.
5. Not using the cold air jet at the end
Have you ever wondered what cold air is for? The final touch of drying should always be given with cold air to give shine, close the cuticles and make the crease last longer. Seeing is believing!
