At first it was the spring of lockdown, then the summer of rebirth and now the autumn of the new-normal: knitwear had already gained 83% more popularity in March 2020, compared to March of the previous year, according to Stylight. Alongside the unique visions of the SS22 collections presented in Milan, London and Paris in September, appear those of the young talents of the Master in Knitwear Design of Polimoda to project into the future the evolution of the knitwear with creativity and varied inspirations.

In the beautiful location of Villa Favard in Florence, one of the headquarters of the fashion school, 27 outfits designed and crafted by the international students Daria Agarkova (Russia), Brittney Austin (USA), Jiayao Chen (China), Joya Halper Shay (Israel), Vera Kuznetsova (Russia), Edna Consuelo Lizarazo Manrique (Colombia), Marie Vilanova (USA), Lucy Catherine Walker-Cox (UK), Chen Xienan (China) were presented in the the exhibition on September 30th, to brings together the feelings and creative inspiration of the future knitwear designers.

Color to express emotions, knitwear as a white canvas to build architectures that blend with the body, spreading messages for the audience, of which every personal project on display is the spokesperson. The strong aptitude for creative direction and technical knowledge of materials in a full artisan approach promoted by the course, ensure that the experience of the Master trains professionals that can satisfy the need for designers in a rapidly expanding industry, where contemporaneity meets tradition.

The event marks the end of the 9-month course that began in January 2021, with a strong focus on the technical background linked to the knowledge of materials and processing techniques but also on the creative and organizational aspect of one's fashion projects. In collaboration with the Italian company Missoni, famous for its timeless yarns, the Master in Knitwear Design is a 360-degree training course that includes trend forecasting, merchandising strategy and collection planning, with the aim of training the designers and production managers of tomorrow.

From next October, Belgian designer An Vandevorst will hold the role of Head of Fashion Design, alongside the director Massimiliano Giornetti. And the next edition of the master is starting in January 2022.
