Nothing can recharge our batteries and relax body and mind better than a warm bath. After a long day, soaking in the tub is ideal to get rid of the stress and tension accumulated during the day, whether it’s work, university or just a day not. All the more so now that autumn has officially started with the first cold. With a restorative effect, equally beneficial for the body and mind, the bath is an evergreen ritual that, accomplices some tricks, can really do miracles. But how do you prepare a really perfect relaxing bath? Opening the hot water tap is not enough, to create an experience of real relaxation you have to pay attention to other details. Let’s see what they are.
Let’s start with the fundamental thing: how hot should the water be? To take the perfect bath the temperature should not be too high, set it between 36 and 38 degrees according to your preference, ideal to relax the muscles and promote the elimination of accumulated toxins. The important thing is not to go further, especially for those who complain of obvious capillary problems or varicose veins: the heat, if excessive, favors the vase-dilatation, worsening the problem.
Let’s focus now on the lights: for your relaxing DIY bath choose a soft lighting. The ideal are lit candles distributed in the room, but remember to place them away from the tank to avoid unpleasant inconveniences. Turning to music: a good background music can encourage relaxation. Choose a relaxing playlist with instrumental or background music: many streaming music services offer playlists or channels designed to encourage relaxation; simply search using the keywords "relaxing music" and browse the proposals. If you feel the need to calm your mind, avoid excessively fast or lively rhythm tracks.
Also enjoy the benefits of aromatherapy with a gentle bubble bath or bath bomb. The bubble bath will fill the tub with bubbles, which are fun and create a relaxing atmosphere, while the bathroom bomb will donate to the water colored shades that will make the experience even more enjoyable. Do not forget the salts, those specially made for the bath, color the water and perfume it gently; those extracted from the Dead Sea, as well as the nomal sea salt, have no aroma, but compensate by favoring microcirculation.
A further touch to prepare a relaxing bath? Fragrant essences. Get a dispenser of essential oils, put it in the room where you will bathe and enjoy a few drops of bergamot, chamomile, lavender or orange. Last but not least, do not disturb. Banned smartphones and TV from the bathroom: a ringing at the wrong time (whether it’s a colleague or a friend in crisis with her boyfriend) has the power to dissolve the feeling of peace that immersion in fragrant water transmits. The advice is to leave the phone out of reach; it would be better to turn it off completely or, at least, mute the ringtone. Finally, remember, the duration of the ideal bath should not exceed 30 minutes because, immersion in hot water, promotes dehydration.
