It's time for "Sylvie in Paris"

It's time for Sylvie in Paris Actress Philippine Leroy Beaulieu closed Weinsanto's show at Paris Fashion Week

Looking back, it almost seems like one of Emily's marketing ideas: Sylvie from Emily in Paris made a surprise appearance on the catwalks during Paris Fashion Week. Actress Philippine Leroy Beaulieu, who plays the boss of Savoir in the Netflix series, closed Weinsanto show with a theatrical look consisting of a printed bustier-dress, accessorised with an oversized headdress, thigh-high black boots and a bouquet of flowers in her hands. It was a definitely daring look, far from the minimal chic that we are so familiar with seeing Philippine on screen, but it allowed her to show a funnier side to her personality and return to the catwalk after her debut in 1994 for Jean-Charles de Castelbajac. The collaboration with designer Victor Weinsanto and his team, beloved by Madonna and famous for their couture cut and dramatic style, came about through a mutual acquaintance and after a dress from the brand appeared in the second season of Emily in Paris:

"I didn't know them: it was Michèle Fitoussi (costume designer of the series along with Patricia Field) who told me about them. And some time later I received a message. We met, they are young, they are cool, it reminded me of the energy of a Gaultier in the 80s. And then there's a real kindness, a real sincerity. Victor could take advantage of that - after all, Madonna orders clothes from him - but he never, ever will."

The actress had already attended PFW men's, where sitting in the front row of Ami, she captured the photographers' flashes in a transparent forest-green midi-dress that adhered perfectly to her body like a second skin. Accessories included a long black coat, gold sandals, a single diamond earring and scarlet red nails. A stunning look that looked like it came out of Sylvie's wardrobe!

Philippine Leroy Beaulieu has a long career behind her and ties to both the fashion world and Italy. The daughter of actor Philippe Leroy, she was born in Rome on 25 April 1963 and spent part of her childhood and adolescence in the capital. Her mother, Francoise Laurent, after a period as a model, worked as a jewelry and accessories designer for Dior, teaching her a love of art, beauty and creativity. As she grew up, she developed a passion for photography and the world of cinema until she made her big-screen debut in Roger Vadim's comedy Surprise Party. From there on, it was one film after another, from Trois hommes et un couffin to Vatel, that made her a star in France. More international and mainstream fame came with the Netflix series.

The character of Sylvie Grateau is the true fashion icon of Emily in Paris, capable of stealing the scene from the protagonist and her friends in a second. With her detached, severe, yet tres Parisienne mood, she has won over fans all over the world who, we are sure, often wish they had her self-confidence and ultra-chic wardrobe. When she enters her office with her impeccable clothes by Alexandre Vauthier, Saint Laurent, Alaïa, Rick Owens, Roland Mouret and Yohji Yamamoto, she reminds us a little of Anna Wintour or rather Miranda Priestly and a little of Carine Roitfeld. Her style, which mixes French touch and 90s minimalism, is definitely seductive, empowering and shows that charm has nothing to do with age. Patricia Field said that for her, dressing Sylvie was fun and challenging:

"She wears what I would call French chic colours: black, olive green, and blue. She's chic, chic and mean."

 And, we might add, cool.
