Celebrity couples who broke up in 2022

Even celebrities have their hearts broken. We could say so, paraphrasing the title of a popular soap opera from the 1980s, because 2022 has seen the end of many celebrity couples: from Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson to Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen, from Lisa Bonet and Jason Momoa to Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde. There have been divorces, more or less amicable estrangements, tears, recriminations via social media and new flames to replace old partners.

Here are some of the celebrity couples who broke up in 2022.

Kim Kardashian & Pete Davidson

After nine months of relationship, Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson have broken up. The reason? Distance due to Pete's recent move to Australia for work. The only ones celebrating were Kanye West, who mocked and insulted (complete with a fake obituary) the comedian for the length of time he was dating his ex-wife, and Emrata, Davidson's new flirt. Yet Kim and Pete were so cute to look at in their faux-releatable ways, between hand-in-hand walks, cinema outings, rollercoaster rides, shared pizzas and days at the beach. The two have remained friends and Kim continues to declare that Pete is "the sweetest, nicest human being on the planet".

Michael B. Jordan & Lori Harvey

Someone who "has a sense of humour and is really understanding, because (an actor's) life is certainly not conducive to a relationship". These were the characteristics of the ideal woman according to Michael B. Jordan and for a while, it seemed that the description fit Lori Harvey perfectly. The actor and the model started dating in November 2021, officially debuting as a couple at the Oscars 2022 after-party. Then, last June, the two said goodbye, apparently because of the age difference. Michael is 35 and was ready to start a family, while Lori, who is only 25, did not feel ready yet. According to rumors, the model is now dating another actor, Damson Idris. 

Harry Styles & Olivia Wilde

Very discreet, they were never officially photographed together, not even on the red carpet of Don't Worry Darling (remember all the controversy this summer between Wilde and Florence Pugh over the heavy climate caused by Harry's relationship with Olivia, who was still married at the time of filming?), the film that made them fall in love. They seemed very close, despite their age difference and the constant media pressure they were under, yet after two years of relationship, their paths parted. The final blow to the couple formed by Harry and Olivia seems to have been the two completely incompatible agendas, the respective commitments of both of them that lead them to be often far apart, but also a dangerous closeness of Harry to his ex Kendall Jenner who "coincidentally" became single again these days. Who knows if a new couple will be born in the coming months?

Zach Braff & Florence Pugh

They had first met in August 2018, when the actor wanted Pugh in the cast of his short film In The Time It Takes to Get There, but the story between Florence Pugh and Zach Braff began in 2019, after they were first photographed together in April. A few months later, pictures of them as a couple started appearing on each other's social profiles, sparking heated criticism from haters for their age difference (around 20 years). Despite the difficulties, the two remained in love for three years, until they announced their break-up in August 2022. Apparently, Florence was heartbroken, especially because of people's harsh judgement, which seems to have weighed heavily on her decision to leave Zach.

Emily Ratajkowski & Sebastian Bear-McClard

They got married in February 2018 in a civil ceremony (she wore a yellow ochre suit from Zara accessorized with a black wide-brimmed hat), only two weeks after going public with their relationship, and in 2021 they had their firstborn son, Sylvester. Then last July, rumors started circulating of a breakup, caused by his constant cheating. In September 2022 came the confirmation of the divorce between Emily Ratajkowski and Sebastian Bear-McClard. Since then the model has declared herself single and has dated Pete Davidson a few times. In recent days Emrata has been photographed with artist Jack Greer. 

Tom Brady & Gisele Bundchen

The news of the crisis in the relationship between Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen had begun to gather momentum last September after it was reported that the model had left their shared home in Florida following a furious argument to take refuge in their property in Costa Rica. Then, after 13 years, the model and the quarterback announced that they had divorced by mutual consent and would remain friends and co-parents.  

Kendall Jenner & Devin Smith

The romance between the two would begin in 2020, becoming official together on Valentine's Day 2021. Then it had continued with ups and downs, and last May Kendall Jenner had brought Devin Booker to her older sister Kourtney's wedding to Travis Barker, held in Portofino. A few months ago, the model and the Phoenix Suns player parted ways. The official reason is too many mutual commitments, but, some believe Harry Styles had something to do with it. Will it be true?

Lisa Bonet & Jason Momoa

Like a bolt out of the blue on 12 January, after almost 17 years together, Lisa Bonet and Jason Momoa had announced on Instagram their separation with a shared post, leaving each other's fans stunned. Some speculated about her stance against the anti-COVID vaccine, others about his cheating. Since the break-up, Momoa has been dating actress Eiza González, but there are many who hope to see him back with his ex-wife.

They are not a couple of lovers and, at least officially, they have not divorced, splitting their ways forever, but BTS have announced a hiatus, lasting at least until 2025. Fans were desperate, but the Korean band is said to be exhausted, and in addition, the imminent departure for military service of at least two members affected the decision.
