This is how the nss G-Club workshop 'Future Producers' went

Music, especially electronic music, is a question of genre. Elasi, singer-songwriter, producer and DJ, and Plastica, Plastic, producer, DJ and keyboard player, wanted to respond to this uncomfortable reality by founding POCHE, a collective of female artists who want to network. POCHE is a safe space in which the gender stereotypes typical of the music industry and beyond can be fought and overcome. It has probably happened to all of us at some point that we were looking forward to a music album, looked to see who had worked on it and saw a long list of men. "That will be normal, there are only a few girls who work and want to work in the music industry," we said to ourselves. But is that really the case? 30 were the participants of the free workshop 'Future Producers', which took place on Saturday 18 November at the nss G-Club. A group of people came together to make music and discuss today's music scene, the challenges in this world and, above all, to have fun.
"Anyone who wants to can produce music." This concept gave rise to the idea of creating an event that combines passion for music with a moment of exchange and confrontation, so that no one feels excluded when it comes to "making music". A great song or a powerful beat can be written entirely with iPhone/iPad apps, without the need for expensive or bulky equipment and without the need for a large studio. How is this possible? With the help of Ableton trainers Elasi, Plastica and Federico Pepe, participants were able to test their creativity by creating beats in pairs using the Ableton Note app.
There is no music without someone to listen to it. And wine and DJ sets also play a role. When the workshop was over, the doors of the nss room opened for dancing. With the support of Pioneer and the Poche collective, Han, Futura Cimice, Elasi and Plastica got us dancing. One hand to the sky to mark the time, in the other a glass of wine from Donnafugata, the Sicilian winery that curated the entire selection of wines for the Future Producers light aperitif.
The second meeting of the Il Punto G-Club was a moment of coming together, of getting to know each other. A moment to create a safe, free and communal space. A moment to 'leave the ego aside and make room for others', as Elasi said several times. Will you be at the next meeting?
