Mida: "I expect to give something to people"
Interview with the singer of Il sole dentro, fresh from his experience at Amici
July 16th, 2024
Mida has just come out of Amici, and he’s ready to take on the world. We welcome him on a slightly gloomy afternoon at our office, and his determination is evident and contagious. He’s wearing a blue sleeveless vest and denim shorts, and he looks very comfortable. He sprawls on our blue couch (matching his outfit) and his answers are precise and concise, almost surgical. The impression is that in his immense and precocious professionalism, Mida, whose real name is Christian Mida, is preparing to conquer everyone. And we see no reason why he shouldn’t succeed.
He describes his experience at Amici as "Strong, useful, and unique." We delve into the usefulness, and he confesses with furrowed brows that "there isn’t one specific thing, it’s more about lessons on vocal technique."
Il sole dentro is the title of his single but also of an album. "It’s a project I care a lot about. It’s about giving value to the people who can light up our lives even in dark times, simply with their way of being. It means a lot, it’s a beautiful start, and it’s my business card in the world of music and recording." A triumphant entry, with the awareness that there is still a long way to go and many artists to meet. Among his dream collaborations are Justin Bieber, Weekend, and especially Danny Ocean. With the latter, there is a story to tell: "He supported me, he was the first international artist to take notice of my project. Plus, he’s Venezuelan like me, he was certified as the first Latin American artist in America, the most listened to of all. It would be an honor to collaborate with him."
Following the new music, this winter, there will be a tour in the clubs. Highly anticipated by his fans but especially by him: "I expect to do the best show I can do, I’m sure I can achieve it. I have a beautiful team working with me, which gives me the chance to put on a great show. Tickets are selling great, I couldn’t ask for more" and he gives us a little teaser: "It could be that we will open new dates, it’s still not certain. But I expect to give something to people, I expect to give myself to the people who will come to see me."
A Milanese by action but Venezuelan by birth, Christian Mida loves the sea and also loves Naples very much. It’s impossible not to ask him what he loves so much about this city: "I like Naples because it’s a bit chaotic. It’s a very real city. You feel it, it’s alive. And then there’s the sea. The people are also very open, genuine, often sunny."
In conclusion, we ask him for advice for a young person who would like to pursue a career in music in Italy. "My exact same path is difficult to undertake. It was very long and troubled. I didn’t just do Amici, I didn’t just do Sanremo Giovani: it’s a bit of intertwined paths. What I would recommend is to follow your heart. If one feels in their heart that they have to do something and then does it, it usually works. It all comes back, even in a good way." Finally, an invitation to his fellow men: "I really like skincare, I use it and would recommend it to other men too. Don’t have these taboos, they’re stupid."
