At Vinted, the true art is packaging the items
T-shirt in a Pringles tube? Yes
November 15th, 2024
I joined Vinted late. I started timidly, uploading items from my closet at bargain prices just to get rid of them. The first thing I ever sold? A pair of limited edition Vans slip-ons, featuring René Magritte’s painting The Lovers on the toe box. I sold them unworn because I had tragically bought the wrong size. Since then, I’ve been selling at full speed. The buying part came later. I started with books, then moved on to t-shirts and even shoes.
Vinted Packages as a Form of Art
The most fun part of all? I didn’t expect it, but it was the packaging. Finding boxes and envelopes, covering them in brown paper, old magazine pages, and tape, making them secure yet personalized without spending a single cent, and protecting them for the long journey our precious items will embark on—it's almost an adventure. In the end, Vinted is a magical world. You sell, you buy, you chat with users, you ask for discounts, and you snag great deals. You get rid of things that no longer bring you joy. The best part? It’s all extremely DIY, and packaging becomes a form of art that showcases our creativity and highlights our problem-solving skills. Plus, it’s fun.

Vinted Goes Viral on TikTok
On TikTok, users are showing off the funniest packages they’ve received (or sent) containing the much-desired item. There are Pringles tubes, old postal boxes, recycled Amazon envelopes—all in the name of environmental sustainability, which is one of the core concepts of this buying and selling app. With enough tape and a little imagination, anything can be a package, including a hamburger box or a yogurt container. Thoroughly rinsed, of course.

This attitude, a mix of serious and playful, is undeniably anti-waste and stands in direct contrast to luxury collecting and vintage items, which demand pristine packaging, original boxes, and dust bags, ensuring a certified perfection. Not that Vinted hasn’t thought of this—it has introduced an option for item verification. Messy or certified: what is your favorite way to use the app?
