The Arca Milano resembles a spaceship straight out of a 1970s James Bond movie—a retro-futuristic, multifunctional space. Amid neon lights and vintage chairs, we meet Alexia, fresh from her triumphant return to music. Her story is well-known: from being a princess of international and European dance music (in English, of course) in the 1990s to reigning over Italian charts in the early 2000s and winning the Sanremo Festival. Now, she’s going back to her roots with a song titled I Feel Feelings and a music video shot entirely at the Armani Silos. Not bad, right?

I decided to return to singing in English and to dance music after many years because I managed to overcome personal challenges,” Alexia confides. “Above all, I felt tired. At some point, I was exhausted from the 140 bpm beats and the events in nightclubs,” she continues. “I studied opera singing, delved deeper into music, and explored bel canto. It felt like a waste to limit my voice to a single genre, especially when being considered ‘too commercial’ made me feel terrible. That was one of the key reasons that pushed me away from this genre.”
A period of crisis, then, followed by clarity that comes with age—and even more with experience: “Over time, I made peace with the young and reckless Alexia who threw herself into this career with great passion but didn’t reckon with the price to pay. Once I overcame these fears, I felt immense pressure from my audience to return to my old love, so it felt natural for me to try singing in English again and return to my genre—the one that brought me so much success: dance music”.
In this light, it’s not just a comeback but a kind of rebirth—a rebirth symbolized by I Feel Feelings, her new single: “It’s the common thread that connects who I was with who I want to be. I want to sing dance music and send specific messages. In this case, I’m telling younger generations not to be afraid of their emotions, to name them, to seek help or help themselves in doing so, and to face them because they make us grow.” The track was born from a collaboration with the electronic dance music group Dragonette: “When they sent me this idea, I embraced it immediately because I felt it had all the qualities that reminded me of the Alexia of the past while also encompassing the Alexia of today and tomorrow.”

The music video follows the same thread, blending past, present, and future, thanks to its location at the Armani Silos. “It was a fortunate choice, a beautiful gift given to me. The spacious areas and perfect settings allowed us to create our scenography, harmonizing with the Armani Privé looks from the archive. Their use was a deliberate stylistic choice to juxtapose two elements: pop and dance music, accessible to everyone, and exclusive outfits worn once and then placed in a museum. Bringing these two elements together symbolized a fresh start that merges my two lives—the one from before and the one today.”
Alexia has changed, grown, and broken away from dance music, only to succumb to its pull once again. Music, too, has changed along with her: “There’s a comeback,” she says. “A return to songs with an 80s vibe, a softer, cleaner sound but with magical melodies that evoke memories, especially for my generation, while still resonating with younger listeners because they inspire and uplift.” Speaking of the past, it’s impossible not to mention Dimmi Come, the song that marked her entry into the Italian pop scene, and her unforgettable appearances at the Sanremo Festival. “In 2002, I definitely experienced a pivotal moment in how the Italian public perceived me. My work was often judged superficially; I was seen as a studio-produced artist. On that stage, there was no room for pretense—it strips you bare. The performance and the song, with an interpretation that showcased my soul and blues roots, delivered the result I had hoped for: people and industry professionals realized I was a true artist.” The rest, as they say, is history. “Sanremo gave me incredible popularity, especially in Italy but not only. It gave me confidence in my abilities as a 360-degree artist—capable of writing, performing, producing, and, above all, singing in Italian on that stage and overcoming all the doubts people had about me.
We’ve talked a lot about the past, and it’s impossible not to with such a rich and passionate history. But let’s talk about the future: “In my future, there’s the desire to make music while having fun and entertaining others, the desire to be myself for the first time and forever, and, most importantly, a lot of awareness.”
