Are The Weeknd and Angelina Jolie dating?

New loves continue to blossom in Hollywood. Following the return of romance between JLo and Ben Afleck, the love story between Rihanna and A$AP Rocky or the passion between Kanye West and Irina Shayk, to the list of hot couples we add also The Weeknd and Angelina Jolie. 

Yes. You read that right. On Thursday, July 1, the rapper and the actress were spotted leaving, separately, Giorgio Baldi's restaurant in Santa Monica, one of the stars' favorite hotspots. The singer of Blinding Lights wore a casual look consisting of jeans, black tee and denim jacket, while Jolie, minimal and refined as always, opted for a black dress, a Dior trench coat, powder-colored pumps by Gabriela Hearst and a Saint Laurent bag. This time, however, the fans are not curious about the outfits, but about whether there is something between the two. According to what a source close to The Weeknd told Page Six the reason for their date was strictly business: 

They’re clearly not trying to hide [the dinner date]. He’s definitely focused on getting to the movie business. He has the new HBO series he’s starring in.

The project the anonymous insider is talking about is The Idol, a show that Abel Makkonen Tesfaye is co-writing with the writers of Euphoria and in which he will play a small role. The plot is supposed to follow the love story of a pop singer with a mysterious Los Angeles club owner who is also the leader of a secret cult. It seems that during the dinner Angelina and The Weeknd might have talked about this and about a possible involvement of the actress in the series. Another theory, supported by E! News, claims that they may have also talked about Ethiopia which is the country of origin of both the artist and Zahara Marley, one of Jolie's 6 children.  

The Canadian-born singer's parents are from Ethiopia, while Angelina adopted her 16-year-old daughter Zahara Marley from the east African country. - The magazine reports - The Weeknd recently shared that he will be donating $1 million to Ethiopia while the country faces tension in its Tigray Region.

So, no romance between the two? Maybe, no, but there are many who are hoping in a new boyfriend for Angelina. Just a few weeks ago, a couple alert was triggered for the star and Jonny Lee Miller, after she was seen leaving the house of the actor with whom she was married from 1996 to 1997. It's probably just another false assumption or just the result of the nostalgia effect for '90s couples sparked by the Bennifers' return. 

Either way, the date with The Weekend marks Angie's first public date (without kids in tow) since her divorce from Brad Pitt. If we add that and common interests (e.g. charity work) between the two there really could be a flirtation. Moreover, remember that the rapper has always had a crush on the Hollywood star and in Party Monster he sang "Ooh, she mine, ooh girl, bump and grind / Ooh, she mine, ooh girl, bump a line / Angelina, lips like Angelina / Like Selena, a** shaped like Selena"? The most malicious insinuated that his historic ex Bella Hadid had begun to resort to plastic surgery to emphasize the resemblance to Jolie. Will it be true?
