Sirene Milano is not only the first Italian women's American football team but a family, in which different personalities coexist and complement each other. Discipline, perseverance and mutual trust are some of the founding values for the group, united by a strong sense of belonging and ready to fight together to achieve their dreams, including spreading the discipline of women's football in Italy and Europe.

Unlike other sports traditionally thought of as feminine, in which competition between female teammates is completely unavoidable, this community lives everything in reverse: eager to legitimize their passion against stereotypes and prejudices, they challenge the old and ingrained thought that girls cannot challenge each other in a sport with a high percentage of physical contact by running until the goal, what they themselves call a touchdown, is achieved.

For me, the Sirene are a family, my reference point and my joy.

"Il football mi ha aiutato tanto a credere nell’amicizia tra donne. È facile pensare, anche per un discorso culturale interiorizzato dalla società, che nei gruppi di donne ci sia più competizione che coesione."

American football is the art of staying on your feet when everyone is trying to knock you down. You learn to get back up, with the help of your teammates, thinking about the goal, the touchdown.

Renate Jirjena

09 Wide receiver - Corner Back

Renate is a receiver; her role is to receive the ball during offensive plays in an agile, quick, and extremely accurate manner. Both on the field and in life, she is a cold-blooded person who loves a challenge. Being a Siren for her means being an example of discipline, both physical and moral, always being there to help her teammates in need, both on and off the field.

She likes to run fast, not do casual aimless jogging, and football has allowed her to follow her passion for a pace that is charged with power and extinguished in a few seconds of explosive action, in which she gives it her all, then starting again. This precise, methodical balance allows Renate to move on the field with an edgy mindset, in which she always keeps her eyes on the limits she can only overcome:

"If on the field I don't catch a ball, make a mistake in the action, or miss a tackle, I tell myself it's okay, and I focus on the next action, which is more important than the one I just missed. Football has taught me that if you always just focus on what you did wrong you are likely to never do anything right again. "

What really matters to her is always being there for the team, enforcing the concept at the heart of it all: "Behave the way you would want all people to behave toward you," so as to create a cycle of positive vibes from which all her teammates can benefit, and inspiration.
