What do the tarot cards say for August 2023?
Let us explore the meaning of Arcane 11, the power in honour of the sign Leo
August 3rd, 2023
August is here, and we are in the season of the lion. As the fifth of the 12 signs of the zodiac ruled by the Sun, Leo is one of the three signs belonging to the element of fire. All those born under this sign have a personality that does not go unnoticed, and passion and energy in abundance! But also a touch of vanity and arrogance. The season of Leo is one of the times of the year par excellence to focus on yourself, as the sign itself is somewhat self-centred and individualistic, and to embrace the positive side of things, rediscover our abilities and set ourselves apart from others. Put modesty and humility aside, trust yourself, seek your self-confidence and let it out, cocky and shameless!
Tarot card for August 2023
I'd like to give you some advice, some tips, so to speak, on how to deal with this sultry time. And so it occurred to me to talk to you about one of the cards from my beloved Tarot, namely one of the twenty-one Major Arcana: The Force, in the hope that it will inspire and, why not, even intrigue you. The Force is the arcanum number 11.
The meaning of the number 11 in numerology
Let's talk a bit about numerology: Do you often notice the number 11 around you? Have you ever looked at your watch and noticed that the number 11 keeps coming up? 14:11. 23:11. 11:11. Or do you spot that number when you absent-mindedly glance at the road before crossing it, perhaps clearly engraved on a number plate or hastily flashing on the side of a passing bus? Always be an attentive listener and observer! Maybe it is and you think it is a sign, a coincidence or magic. Well, according to old folk beliefs, the appearance of the number 11 seems to mean that a change is about to happen in your life. In esotericism, on the other hand, the number 11 is a fundamental number, for it is considered the 'first master number': it represents a new decade, it adds unity to the completeness of the number 10; and for precisely these two reasons it represents revelation and renewal, but also, why not, individual initiative. Think of the number 11 as a curious traveller who ventures beyond what is certain and known (the first decade, i.e. the first ten natural numbers).
The meaning of strength in the Tarot
Now that we've talked a bit about numbers, take your tarot deck and look closely at this card. When I was studying the Tarot, I liked to think that the cards could somehow speak to us. I was enchanted by the details. This arcanum is usually represented by a young girl holding open the mouth of a lion with her bare hands. What does this image convey to you? Courage, self-control, security. The instinct, the unconscious, the irrationality are represented by the animal, but it doesn't seem to rebel against the girl, does it? It seems to be a 'controlled struggle'. The spiritual energy of the young girl and the instinctive energy of the animal merge. They work together. There is no fear or anxiety in the gesture the woman is portraying: the intellectual nature listens to the animal nature and the animal listens to the spiritual influence. The conscious and the unconscious are in harmony. And finally, beware! This is not an aggressive force, but an inner force. This kind of force is not destructive, it does not attack what is outside of us, but grows and feeds on what is within us.
