Chanel presents Lipscanner, the new app to find your lipstick
Get inspiration from an image or a color, take a picture and in a few clicks the app will suggest which lipstick is perfect for you
April 28th, 2021
If you're going crazy looking for the perfect beauty match with your new Nike Dunk or the mini bag you bought for spring/summer 2021, then you'll be among the first to download Lipscanner, Chanel's new lip make-up app. Created entirely in-house and developed in collaboration with the brand's Makeup Creation Studio and CX Lab, Maison's latest hi-tech project leverages artificial intelligence and recognition software to find the Chanel lipstick of your dreams, starting from a moodboard or visual that inspired you.
Whether you're trying to find the particular shade of pink on Hailey Bieber's lips, the shade of a bouquet of peonies or a dress spotted in the pages of Vogue, the whole thing is simple. The first step, once you've downloaded the app, is to shoot a photo of your inspiration. Lipscanner will compare the color seen in real-time with all of the more than 400 make-up items and, after examining among the range of nudes, pinks, oranges, reds and plums and the 5 textures available (glossy, shiny, metallic, satin and matte), will suggest the option that is the closest to the one you wanted. Finally, the Virtual Try On will allow you to see how that Chanel lipstick looks on your lips. As the French brand points out, Lipscanner "doesn't just offer a virtual make-up experience, it helps turn it into reality" by creating a link to chanel.com with the shade you want.
Lipscanner by Chanel is available in the Apple store.
