Get ready to add the claw clip to trendy accessories to give summer looks a twist. Along with printed scarves and straw bags, this hair clip we all wore in the 1990s has definitely left its domestic character to explore the world, on the heads of it girls of the moment like Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner, who routinely wear them. No longer a symbol of slouchiness, the claw clip is a summer must-have that completes any look. How to do it? Just choose the right model: minimalist, colourful, fun, quirky, romantic or bling-bling. Leave the sad and banal plastic clips in the drawer, because the new ones have fun shapes, eye-catching patterns, sparkling embellishments, bold colours and play with the aesthetics of the moment, such as coquettecore and mermaidcore. The clothes peg is a true "lifesaver" when the heatwave becomes unbearable, on a bad hair day or to discipline the hair after swimming, it's back to stay.
The return of the claw clip according to celebrities
After years of being banished from the household, the claw clip is now getting the place it deserves in our make-up and looks, saving hairstyle and coolness in one fell swoop. Celebrities are the best proof that this is true even for the most reluctant. 30 years ago, it was the current actresses like Jennifer Aniston or Gwyneth Paltrow who wore it stylishly on screen and in everyday life. Today, it's It girls like Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber and influencers like Matilda Djerf who have made it a must-have accessory. This little accessory is very versatile and adapts well to different personalities and needs: Jeanne Damas chooses it parisienne and romantic, singer Angele wanted it designed by Chanel for the Cannes red carpet, as a working mother Chiara Ferragni adds a fun touch to its practicality, Kaia Gerber and Kendall Jenner prefer the more classic models, preferably in neutral tones, while Elsa Hosk likes to flaunt it in bright colours and delicate shapes. The model the blonde model loves the most? It's the claw clip that resembles a daisy.

No excuses. Wearing a claw clip is super easy. It's just a matter of finding the model and size that best suits the length and body of our hair. The simplest method is to gather your hair into a low ponytail, twist it clockwise on itself, bring it to the nape of your neck and secure it by closing the claw clip. Or we can make a half-tail and leave the rest of the hair free. Just pass the hair around the handle and then into the clip, finally opening the top part of the hair a little to create a bead effect. These options are not for you? No problem, there are plenty of tutorials on TikTok and Instagram to help even the clumsiest among us create really simple chic hairstyles. The more we practise, the easier it becomes to tame unruly hair this way. Another reason to opt for the claw clip? Because unlike the elastic band, it does not ruin and tear the hair or leave the unsightly crease that forms when you hold a ponytail or chignon for many hours.
Where to buy it
There are many different models, from the simplest to those in the shape of a dolphin or butterfly, but among the coolest are certainly those offered by the Italian brand Leontine Vintage. The most eccentric models? We find them on Etsy, where more or less aspiring designers recreate stars, flowers, sea creatures, fruits, small animals and any shape that springs from their imagination. Particularly cool and fun are the claw clips by Coucou Suzette, a French brand that makes dachshunds, mutts, kittens, mermaids, strawberries, oranges, hearts, lips, swallows, canaries, aubergines, shells, tulips, ... in short, you are spoilt for choice! Those looking for something really special and precious can browse the many vintage markets and may find a real little treasure tres chic in their hands, or rather in their hair. If you have a very small budget, there are always the cheap necklaces, but also the good old jewellery box of mothers and grandmothers from which you can pull out a little forgotten claw clip from the 90s and give it a second youth.
