“Faces of Music” is Sephora's new series on star make-up
Chappell Roan, Victoria Monét and Becky G reveal their beauty secrets

January 20th, 2025
Music and makeup have always been intertwined. From David Bowie to Madonna, from Lady Gaga to Rosalía, the presence—or even the absence—of lipstick or eyeshadow has helped turn talented artists into true icons. Building on this concept, Sephora US and Hulu, in collaboration with Digitas Pictures and Imagine Documentaries, have created Faces of Music, a new docuseries exclusively available on the U.S. streaming platform starting January 22. This series consists of three episodes, each dedicated to a different star, exploring how they "use beauty to shape their image, amplify their music, and communicate their identity": Chappell Roan, Victoria Monét e Becky G.
Chappell Roan's makeup and the Sephora series
Chappell Roan released her debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, in 2023, but its success blossomed the following year. The album reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart and received six Grammy nominations for 2025. A series of memorable performances, such as at Coachella, solidified her as one of the most influential stars of 2024. Her success lies in a unique mix of musical talent, stage presence, and the ability to tackle emotional and personal themes in her songs. Another key element? Makeup inspired by clown aesthetics and drag queens, which Roan explains in the Hulu series as essential for defining her onstage persona: "A version of myself that’s bold, confident, and hot."
Victoria Monét has also had a couple of standout years. After a long career as a songwriter (penning tracks for Ariana Grande, Nas, Blackpink, and many more), she released Jaguar II in August 2023. The 11-track album reached No. 22 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and No. 60 on the Billboard 200. Her appearance at the 2024 Grammys drew as much attention as her music. For the occasion, Monét wore a stunning custom bronze Versace gown paired with a soft glam makeup look in matching tones, created by makeup artist Alexander Echeverri. Curious about Monét's lip combo? Chestnut lip liner and MACximal lipstick in Kinda Sexy, topped with Lipglass in Clear.
Becky G has been equally busy and celebrated. In 2023, she embarked on her first headlining tour, the Mi Casa, Tu Casa tour, and released her third studio album, Esquinas. The following year was just as packed. The singer hosted the Latin American Music Awards, launched her second headlining tour titled Casa Gomez: Otro Capítulo Tour, and released another album, Encuentros. It seems like a lifetime ago that, at just 17 years old in 2014, she debuted with Shower and Mayores, a multi-platinum single featuring Bad Bunny that quickly shot to the top of the U.S. charts. Yet her career continues to thrive, fueled by her unique blend of traditional Mexican music and contemporary pop, as well as her iconic looks. She favors designers like Willy Chavarria, Coperni, Balmain, and Loewe but also has a passion for beauty, exemplified by her own brand, Treslúce Beauty.

Faces of Music offers a chance to dive deeper into these artists' relationships with makeup, including their inspirations, beauty routines, and behind-the-scenes get ready with me moments. Tune in on January 22 on Hulu.
